I have what appears to be a bad ground for the dash lights on my 355. The dash lights flicker when in motion and have gone out completely only to have them come back on. I have tried adjusting the dash light rheostat switch and there was no affect. I also tried the combination turn signal, headlight switch and that made them come back on a couple of times and then nothing would make them re-light until the 355 was parked. So the first thing to check is a bad ground. Have any of you searched for this ground?

Darrell: On the 348, which has a very similar dashboard, there is a "common ground" with numerous wires attached just behind the left outer dash vent. You can either remove the vent by carefully depressing the tabs, or you can remove the instrument cluster with just two screws (on the 348, not sure if it's exactly the same on a 355). I have a picture somewhere in the archives. It should be easy to get at it once you know where it is.

Edit: It's also possible that you have a bad connection at the multi-pin connector on the back of the instrument cluster, where the wires attach to the printed circuit board. Have you ever noticed whether or not the lights on the console controls flicker at the same time as the dash lights?

Since the symtom was not limited to the dash instruments, I felt it would most likely be a bad ground. I found a good link to a site with parts list breakdown images and I am planning on looking deeper into the problem this weekend. Thanks for the imput.
Above the left outer vent is the first place I will look. I have another issue to look into as well.
