Can anyone tell me the rough cost to recover the dash on a 456.... mine seems to be shrinking.

Gregory- Can tell you on Maranellos it is about 8 hours labor to R&R the dash, plus whatever it costs to recover it. Somewhere in the $2500-4500 range, depending on where you live. Mine was around $3200.

I redid the dash myself on my 355. Cost me less than 400$ of materials and it was my first time. Came out pretty perfect...

Terry hit the nail on the head with pricing. If you remove it and shipped it in we would charge $2,500 to recover it.

Fab- The Maranello dash is a bit harder to R&R than the F355's. Sounds like you did a a really good job, though. The leather is usually more than $400.

Based on images it looks like the upper part looks easier than the 355 but I don't have any experience.

I imagine that you're only needing to do the upper part right? I wouldn't dare touch the bottom, way too scary!!!

If your instrument cluster is ok and you can manage to dissasemble and reassemble the dash, a 75$ leather skin is enough.

If you have more means, I'd trust Bradan with a project like this....

The removal is not that hard - I did a thread on it a few years back. If you have questions - pm me.

You need a fair size chunk of cow skin to cover that dash. Make sure you inspect any prospective hide very well; finding a piece that size without any imperfections can be tricky. Remember, any tiny fault will stick out like a sore thumb, so unless you really can't pay the extra, it's a job for a pro trimmer..

Hi, can anyone recommend a glue for this kind of work? Need it for my headliner.

I paid $4,500 for mine. That was for an entire recovering including thr binnacle and airbag. Probably overpaid by about $1000. But the sewing was right on and the leather, mat, was a perfect match. The quality lasts long after the price is forgotten.

I bought a piece of leather for 75$ and it was a lot bigger than what I needed. There was 1 hole in the center and I lined it up with the vent hole in order to ensure that the rest of the dash would be perfect.

If anyone is curious, here are some pictures of my re-cover. Please note this was on a F355

NOTE: I did not have to redo the instrument cluster nor the bottom part. Otherwise, I would not have been able to do it.

I just recovered my dash & instrument pod at Classic Coach in Elizabeth NJ

Just to get the dash out and back in again was big ordeal and time consuming. It ran me about 3 grand.

    They did a Stupendous job.

Funny thing is- In order to save time, we ordered a new replacement dash from Ferrari & it came in with damaged leather. We called FNA & they were aware & offered a $100 discount.

    Can you imagine??

Anyway the dash came out better than new- I recommend Classic Coach for every need from leather to paint to mechanical & they are one of the oldest restoration shops in the country and Ferrari certified.

But back to the point- it's not a simple task & 3 grand seems to be the lucky number to get it done...

So did you end up using the replacement leather from Ferrari after all?

How much did that piece cost and how did you resolve the issue with FNA? 100$ seems like a joke for something that is basically unusable.

Sorry for not responding sooner, I didn't notice your question.

I was going to use a Ferrari sourced replacement dash because my car had been in service for a long while & I had a transport appointment scheduled because the car winters in FL from NJ.

In order to make that truck, we had little time to recover the dash- the disassembly & reassembly of the dash just to get the dash out & back in is very time consuming. That said, it just seemed faster to buy the part rather than recover.

The dash on the 456 is about 1100 to 1200 bucks dealer cost I believe. The instrument pod cover is about the same price.

They shipped me a dash with damaged leather from FNA & offered us $100 credit. HA!! What a joke!- I mean what would be the point of replacing a bad dash with a bad dash or recovering a new dash when I could recover my own?

Longstory short- I missed my truck & recovered my old dash. The crew at Classic Coach in Elizabeth NJ are Stupendous; and their leather guy is Amazing. Considering he does multi-million dollar cars regularly along with all of the more common service needs, I'd say the guy is more than capable.

He did a better than factory job on my dash- And I couldn't be happier.

I was able to located another ride for my car 2 days later, and everything worked out.

Hope that answers your question ;)
