So, I pulled my dash off using the step by step procedures posted here(thank you) and sent it out to be recovered. Once the dash was pulled off it exposed a horrific mess. I was overwhelmed at first. Knowing that this car had the 97 custom built in cell phone and radar detector with k40 and a stereo system that was to die for at one point. It was really a matter of just getting in there and taking each wire and pulling them out. When I was done I had a two ft high mound of wires and components galore. I might add that the kid in me wanted to add some speakers and a sub and go for it. But, I decided to go original and clean this mess up. I hope I don't bore you with all theses pics but, someone might find them helpful. The stereo had an amp custom built in. A crossover system tweeters stinger battery Panasonic flip screen with brain and all the mountain of wires to go with. I am going to recover the trunk liner pieces back to charcoal grey. That should do it for as far as I want to go with this car.

Plaudits to you for removing a bunch of stereo stuff. It's beyond my comprehension why somebody would want to put all that in a 3XX. A Rolls, ok, but not a sports car, esp a Ferrari. To paraphrase Colin Chapman "add only lightness."

Does anyone know if my dash lights are out. And I pull the cluster and find a bad bulb. Would that be the cause? Are they all on the same circuit? This doesn't have anything to do with the dash current state. This happened before I pulled the dash. It's one of the things I want to fix...

Don't think one being out would be the cause. Did you check the fuse panel?

I'm going to be pulling my dash out soon for recovering (the leather has shrunken badly). I'm cleaning up the switches now and then it will be on to the dash. I know there is an old radar detector, but I don't think there will be anything like what you are finding. It is a good feeling when you pull out all that extra stuff....and the car still works!

Feel free to post as much info as you like. It will all be very useful.

For anyone recovering their dash... I would highly recommend the 3M crystalline film for the windshield and windows... It's expensive... probably ~$700+ for all the windows... they have a 10% tint... which is essentially clear... but it will block out up to 99.9% of UV rays and 90%-97% of the infrared light. This will really help preserve your interior leather in the sun (unless the roof is off!). I had this installed on my Range Rover Sport and will put on the 355 after reupholstering the interior. Works great on the RRS... protects the leather and noticeably cooler during the summer.

I had my suv done and the cost was $550 for the windshield. Works real good to block the heat. I'm going to get the 348 done because the dash really gets hot in the Az sun.
