Hey all, wondering if anyone else experienced this:

Recently had my battery on my 2014 458 replaced by the dealer during service, guessing they used the OEM.

Upon picking it up from the dealer, I noticed that the left turn signal green arrow flasher on the dashboard would often fail to light up. The exterior headlight and taillight turn signals work fine, and I can hear the clicking, but the green arrow would sometimes fail to illuminate. Right turn signal green light flashes just fine.

No error codes or warnings on the dash

Took it back to the dealer, and they said all the connections are fine, and that they recommend replacing the instrument cluster, but I'm skeptical that is necessary.

I did some reading and saw that this could be related to something called an NVO in the steering wheel, but none of my other steering wheel functions are broken, which I heard is a common symptom of a bad NVO.

Anyone have experienced a similar issue in the past? Really scratching my head here.

    Thanks

FWIW, it doesn't have the same symptoms that would necessitate replacing the NVO board. It might be instrument cluster but I am certain that is $$$ to replace, at the chance it fixes it.

I would take the position to ride with the issue at least for awhile. It might be one of those that starts working again after a few cycles of the system. Besides, your flashers do work so nothing to worry about there. The worst thing to do is just throw parts at it....plus you may learn exactly what the issue is given time to correctly diagnose it, if necessary. Curiously, does the light go on if you turn your warning flashers on?

I DESPISE, the turn signals. Unless 100% necessary, I don't use them in my 458. It's a terrible system...

Wise words. The left green flasher doesn't work even if the Hazards are on.

I guess that's one way to resolve this!

I just had a thought. Maybe if you could swap a steering wheel from a car with no problems and see if your non-flashing problem persists. If it does not, then maybe it is the NVO board after all.

I think that would fly w/ a car from the 80s, but I would think that's a major undertaking w/ all the tech in the wheel.

Maybe, but probably a lot less work than tearing the dash apart and installing a several thousand dollar TFT and hoping that it worked.

Decided to leave it for now. Hoping that over time it will fail completely and thus indicate an NVO failure.

Replacing instrument cluster is a $20K job it turns out. Definitely want to make sure that's the true underlying cause before doing that.
