So it's my anniversary of 22 years and my wife wanted to go out. It's a beautiful night and she wants to take the Lambo. We drive to a great steak house and park right in front in the fire zone. The restaurant is ok with it and always let's high end cars park there. After dinner my wife looks at me and says "I want to go to a movie". I'm like, "We're in the LAMBO !! But what ya gona do?...you want to make her happy and no time to switch cars. So I drive to the theater praying she will change her mind. After sitting in the far side of parking lot away from others for 15 min watching cars pull up and dropping off van full of kids I see a worker outside wanting to take pics of the car. He assures me the car will be fine with the security patrol. So my wife tells me that I can just check on the car during the movie. When we walk inside a couple of cops call me over. They told me to go get my car and park it upfront in their spot and they will watch it while I watch the movie. 2 hours later I walk out in tears of what my car might look like. There was not a mark on it, not even a finger print or face print on the glass. The cops stayed with it the whole time and chased away anyone who came close. I thanked them for their trouble. It's nice to know that there are people who care about others property. These off duty cop/security were the nicest guys to take extra care.

I know many of you will scream when you read this and tell me you would never leave your car. But, my wife means more to me and it turned out to be a great night. But...I did tell my wife, "NEVER AGAIN!

    I don't get it.

I've taken my 355 to the mall, movies, even Costco....if you seriously worry about something happening to it in a silly parking lot maybe you shouldn't own it any longer.

Pic is from a Costco trip.

I'd actually feel much safer in baton rouge than Portland with an exotic, way too many hating hippies up there.

I don't see the big issue, Jimmy used to leave the RAT in the clear view parking lot all the time while watching a movie.

Keep going Kerry; soon you'll be leaving it at the Lowes and loading it up with junk like me. ;)

But I remember the first time I left mine sitting outside the theater. It's an initially never-wracking experience no matter how blasé you get about exotic car ownership. :)

Just as long as the raccoons say away I will be fine Maury...lol.
I take mine to home depot all the time and out to eat. I've had it for a year now and put over 6k miles on it. Heck I even take it to Target and to grocery store by my house. But it was scarry to leave it at a movie theater with truck loads of kids running around and knowing I would be there till midnight. But someday when I'm as rich as some of you guys it will be "just another car" ...lol.

The next time you're nervous about leaving it somewhere just let me know and I'll drive it around until you're done with your movie.

Thats the first time you take it to the movies?? Did you at least relax and enjoy the movie?

The car owns you or the other way around?

Dont worry about taking your car to the movies (unless its in a bad part of the city..). People will take pictures, some will touch it but rarely anything happens to it. If it does, you are insured.

The worst that happened to my car was that it was keyed..at my office parking lot which is in the middle of the gold coast here in Chicago. I took it to Walmart, camping, Target, skiing etc..and nothing happened there except that i have a lot of memories and not just pictures of it in my driveway.

And I'll volunteer my time if you're in New Orleans. :)

Seriously, I'd just enjoy it and take it where you want to go. It's a car and meant to be driven. And it could get hit anywhere. My friend's dad used to have a Porsche he loved soooo much, ordered it special, drove to Houston to get it. He always parked it in an end spot at work so that he'd have less chance of door dings...and someone came around and HIT the damn thing one day. It happens but it's not the end of the world.

Of course I'm telling you that because I don't own it!

Lol. I'm getting a lot of volunteers. I drive the car often. Yes I'm particular where I drive and park it. I have a Porsche also and take it everywhere. There is a big difference between the two. For starters the paint job on the Porsche is not a tri-color pearl and easier to fix when keyed or scratched. A lot of the guys on here can tell you that I don't baby the car. I drive it like it's meant to be driven. But I am particular where and when I park it. On those days I just drive my Civic..lol. Maybe the car does own me, but I sure am having fun....
