What a great day! I had started my daughter in karts last year (at the age of 5), but due to time constraints didn't really pursue it again until a month or so ago, when I finally got around to buying her a kart. She did two practice sessions, and today was her first race.

She finished towards the back of the pack, which is to be expected I think, but she had a blast. The club we joined awards trophy's to all of the kidkarters, which really made her day.

Here's a photo of her after the race. Looking forward to seeing her race for the Scuderia one day :)

Congratulations to her! That grin she has on her face is absolutely glowing. I'm sure some day she'll be driving her date to the prom. :)

That's great. Judging by those tires it looks like she really tore up the track. :)

I really respect that you are giving her the opportunity to try something like this at an early age. It could be the begining of valuable skills for life. If we all started that early we would be pros by the time we were 16 and Insurance rates would be alot less. Good for you Dom and Your girl looks really sweet and proud of herself. Two Thumbs up. Congrats... that's a great pic with her big smile and a proud Dad. It looks like you'll be having good quality time with your daughter while doing something really fun for both.
I have a 3 yr old daughter and hopefully will follow your steps. What kind of kart chasis/engine combo is that?

Thanks everyone for your kind responses.

It's a Margay DAP (2005) Chassis with a 50cc Comer C-51 engine. I bought it used for a decent price. Completely stock for now, but it seems that a lot of the kidkarters are running with blueprinted engines. They really do start them early.

It's just a matter of time. They grow so fast, it seems.

Nice. I wouldn't worry too much about spending money tweaking the kart. Some people are just going to do that regardles of whether it is needed. Plenty of seat time and lots of encouragement are the best go-faster tweaks you can make right now. As long as she's enjoying it, that's the important thing.

    Best wishes to her!
