Many years ago we had contact over months when he started to restore one of the ultra rare Maserati A6GCS Pininfarina, the ex-Subbotin car, back to its original specification. He was such a charming character with lots of knowledge on all these ol` tatty cars from Italy. So lets keep him in our memories as that was he was: a very nice man! R.I.P.

…legendary are irreplaceable…there are very few with not only the scope of his knowledge but the talent he possessed…it was a true honor to be on a judging team with him at Cavallino…

I was his Chief Class Judge at Cavallino one year on Supercars. I was a little confused why David was assigned to me on Supercars, he was a vintage car guy (those two almost never cross over) . I sent him all kinds of materials and sources to study up and be prepared and he very graciously accepted it all. When we were out on the field judging it became obvious David was as knowledgeable about Supercars as I was and he never said a word.

David may have been best known as a vintage Ferrari restorer but he knew a lot about a lot of different cars.

Very sad news on one hand, and peace for David on the other.
I can only add a few words here stating mainly the same what everybody did.
I had the unique opportunity to exchange information with him over more than 20 years.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace David, you'll be missed.
    Cris.-

Very sad news. I did not know him but my father did and they collaborated on several projects. Prayers go out to his family.

good memories of the many years. David and I did things together how he’s a very honest, dedicated business person he will be missed one of our funny memories when Claude was just a year or two old David was showing I think a series 1 cab And Bernice what is playing with claude asked if he could ride with him to the winners Circle we didn’t know if that was a good idea or not so she took him the first thing he did was lean forward and pulled the instrument bezel off the fuel gauge, and that remained by laughing .4 years to come

Very sad. I never knew David, but living in Northern Virginia, I knew of him and his work. I would have loved to meet him. My girlfriend used to live 20 minutes from his shop, so when we'd drive by I'd point it out and say that's where the super old rare Ferraris get restored. RIP.

In hindsight, I should have. But I'm not a big fan of popping into private businesses where people work, unannounced. Especially if no one at the business knows who I am.
