Hi guys, I don't know if this is a repost but if it is I apologize. While reading thru the Dec issue of MaClean's magazine they had an article on David Ho (good article btw). It mentioned amon other things owns a Bently, Porsche, and a custom made Testarossa that he paid $250,000 for! Does anybody know about this special Ferrari? Thanks, Lawrence
I read that article too. Very cool. As for the car I dont know for sure but I can bet it's a Koenig Testarossa. Awesome 1000BHP car! Very popular with wealthy Asians. V.
A very wealthy man. http://www.asia-inc.com/October04/coverstory_oct.htm He is now one of Canada's richest. He also owns hi-end dealer MCL in B.C (Bentley etc.) and many more Im sure.
is he the guy that owns the airline or something like that? if thats what he owns, then I think I read the article. Oh never mind, I just saw that link. I remeber reading the article, it wasnt too bad.
On the Keonig note. I just received in the mail today my rare Koenig "Competition" Testarossa poster!!! Man, that thing looks awesome!!! I love the 80's tuner-cars. Time to go buy the frame V.
I know around the time he bought MCL in 1992/93 David Ho tried to buy Carter Ferrari because he was upset about having to be on a waiting list for a 93 TR. If I remember the story correctly he went to Italy and ended up buying a Champaign colored Testarossa that was ordered by someone else but they canceled the order. It was parked in the MCL showroom in 93/94 and was probably $250K CND at the time.
That's interesting James! I remember someone telling me several years ago there was a 'gold-colour' Testarossa in Vancouver. I never found out who owned it and was it ordered from the factory like that. I guess that colour would be quite unique... Anybody have pics? I wonder if Joseph (my F-mechanic) would know?
I don't know of any pics but I know the color was very close to "Mercedes Champagne Poly" http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/search/searchpic.pl?1988-mercedesbenz-pg01.jpg My father had a custom ordered Porsche 928S4 with this color and when it was at Burrard Autostrasse the guy told me about the TR. I think David Ho even offered to buy my Dad's car so he could have the matching cars in the showroom but my father did not sell it then.
Ah, that makes sense. Back then it was $250,000.00 for the TR. I was just thinking about it....a Koenig is alot more than that. Carry on... V.
Does Mr. Ho still have the ex VPD cruiser parked just inside his security gate? The rumour around town was that he was 'so in' with the local pd for his donation that they had one pemanently parked at his house. Apparently it's a decoy and was purchased at the auction. Just wondered if he ever threw it away. Suppose I could always go for a drive........
