Saturday practice 1 has started. Davidson is replacing Sato for this session and for the remaining of the week-end. Sato is suffering from a fever
I was wondering where he was on the timing board. Is it confirmed that he's out for the full weekend?
On the commentary section of live timing its written: "BAR have confirmed that Sato is suffering from a fever and he will not compete in this weekend's race. Official BAR press release: Takuma developed a fever yesterday evening, and after receiving attention from the Sepang Circuit Medical Centre appeared to show some signs of recovery. However, this morning the fever had started to recur. In view of the fact that this is such a physically demanding race for the driver, the Team and Takuma have accepted the Medical Team's view that the most sensible course of action is to retire from the rest of the weekend's running. Anthony Davidson will replace Takuma in car no. 4 with effect from this morning's Free Practice sessions and will take part in tomorrow's race.
Honda can buy SATO a seat in F1... too bad they canot buy SATO a clean bill of health. Get well soon SATO.
And next year, when qualifying at AUS, remember to take your Wellies for that half lap stroll through the rain.
Cool. It'll be interesting to see how he does during a real race. His practice sessions last year were nothing short of phenomenal. Let's see the real thing. Time for a reality check. Sato can take his time. Monaco is still a long while out...
Although I like Sato's exuberance, Its good to see a test driver have a crack at the Big Show once in a while. Anyone driving or testing (except Minardi's one "test" driver ) at this level deserves respect.
Anthony Davidson is a much better racer than Sato... The only thing Davidson ever did wrong was: 1) Not being Japanese so he can be Honda's poster boy 2) Not having tons and tons of money / sponsorships to buy his way into F1
The race will show how good of a driver he really is. It is one thng going fast around a race track, but another to do so and make it across the finish with your car in running order. I have hope though.
Me too. So far Davidson has done the fastest laptime of the BAR drivers but it doesn't count. Practice 4 = Davidson= 1:33.580 Qualifying 1 = Button=1:33.616
