Well - day 3 and got my first check engine light. I ran the car to a local shop who knows nothing about Ferrari's but does have the diagnostic equipment to pull the codes. The codes where PO432, PO422 and PO1448. The description was catalyst below threshold bank 1 and bank2 along with a non descript code for 1448. This would lead me to believe my cats may need to be replaced with Hyperflows.

    Some other facts:
    1. I had the cats inspected at the 30k. Both sides look like the pic attached. The shop said they looked perfect.
    2. The day before I found a broken flange which helps connect the capristo to the Cats. We replaced it.
    3. I cleared the codes and drove for 20 minutes and it didnt come back.

Has anyone seen this? Anyone know what the 1448 code means?

Hyperflow is the only way to go with your new Capristo and car will even sound much better. Just do it and you can thank me later ;)

I never had any codes of any sort with my Capristo + Hyperflows in the past 4 years since I have them installed.

P1448 is an issue with the bypass valve. All three codes might be related.

The bypass valve is actuated by vacuum which is controlled by a solenoid.

    To diagnose:

    1. pull the vacuum line that connects to the valve from the connection at the end away from the valve. Apply vacuum to the hose and verify that the valve operates. If it does not move, then the valve may be the problem

    2. reconnect the hose and check the electrical connections to the solenoid. This is done from under the car just behind the passenger side rear wheel well. You will see two valves side by side. Squeeze the connector lock and pull off the plug of each solenoid. Clean the contacts with contact cleaner and a small wire brush or old toothbrush. Do each solenoid separately so you don't mix up the wires. Clear the code and see if they come back.

    3. if neither of the above steps resolve the issue, then the issue could be with the vacuum system itself.

I call this chasing ghosts. The head Ghost buster is Dave Helms. His gold kit remedies many of the electronic ghosts that come up. When I get a Pcode in my mercedes I tend to believe it. Years in Ferraridom my diagnostic proceedure when I get a code is to suspect, inspect, erase, and see if it comes back with the same code consistently before I start ghost busting.

Sounds like nothing major...but if you got a code after Day 3, that means the seller reset the codes and mis-represented the car as code free. Unless I'm missing something here...I'd be talking with the seller if appropriate based on how you closed the deal. When I bought my car I had no CEL...it was removed! AND it passed dealer PPI, they didn't check for codes.

Hyperflows are well known, but many other sellers have cats at a fraction of Hyperflow cost. I went with Nouvolari, so far no cat CEL codes for me (3 mos. driving).

At least check for dirty contacts at the solenoid connectors. It is a very common issue and can create intermittent P1448 codes. I have corrected this issue on three F355s so far including mine.

Jeff you need to have a scanner that can read obdII data while the engine is
running and watch the 4 O2 sensors data. Also if your exhaust clamp
was loose at the time it will intake fresh air and make it look
like the cat is not operating properly.
Hope this is clear, I dont always get my piont clear with the KEYBOARD......

The cost they quoted in the thread shown in the attached link is $1,300 which includes delivery to the USA or Canada.
