In honor of Scott's, ummmm, life partner we're naming the first annual Fchat former St Louisan reunion Day of the Donkey! Let's use this thread to plan the event. I would suggest we base it around the Euro car show, whenever that is. We'll eat lots of St Louis cuisine, drive too fast, and invade Holtzman Manor!
Sounds like one heck of a plan - let the preparations begin. Anyone from out of town is welcome to stay at my place. Once we have a confirmed date I will reserve a place that accepts donkeys. I will then ask Jim Mills to contact the Ferrari Rep and do a meet and greet along with any other exotic they represent. Hopefully we have 25 plus as anything else would be un - donkified!
you guys have no idea how tempted i am right now to find a petting zoo and look into renting a donkey out for a few hours just to spite you guys, and if i do do it, i'm just going to have the thing delivered to doug's crib - i'm sure his new neighbors will love that... i can't stress this enough: i am in!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm open as far as dates go, considering of all the ex-st louisan's, it's probably easiest for me to get in, but weekends are a must for me. the euro car show weekend sounds like a great time to get this thing going...
maybe STL Motorsports can give me a loaner car so I don't have to rent some sh!tbox from Enterprise...
their website still has the 2010 date (June 23rd) on it.....though I do recall someone saying they'd move it earlier in the month.
I think a box for the weekend would be a tough find - but should be doable when Chas offers the Veyron SS up for the night
let's ask albert to buy us a suite for the weekend - maybe if you see him at one of stlm's events with his lambo. if things go as i think they will, he could just about buy up the rest of the unsold veyron's with his 2012 salary from the cardinals.
i doubt it - keenan was an ass when he was here in st louis - basically drove hull and gretzky out of town - between larussa and ozzie smith? yeah - definitely. but larussa and pujols? no.
St Louis could not afford Keenan / Gretzky / Hull ... and it ruined the team. Keenan may have been as ****** but he did bring Gretzky! Larussa is at his end ... As I said earlier the big boys are the ones who can afford Pujols ... baseball made their bed for this scenario. Not saying he will not sign - but 10 yr 30 million could really damage the team.
you know, if I get a Veyron SS loaner car, somehow I doubt I'll be going to a baseball game I'll be doing 200+ on 40 through the valley, and/or in jail
haha - jail would place you in a different ball game ... where I assume you would play catcher with a guy named Alfonzo.
I completely agree- about Keenan, Pujols, and LaRussa. Actually, I think last season should have been the end of the line for LaRussa in St. Louis, as the team collapsed and handed Cincinnati the Central Division title. Tony had a great run here for a long time, but like Pujols' time here, all good things must eventually come to an end. It looks like the Cardinals are willing to pony up the big bucks, but they want to get Albert into a shorter contract, so I guess we'll see how flexible #5 is willing to be.
My gut says Albert is fishin - last year you are spot on - the Cards blew it and had the guys to get it done. I say cut bait and let him go and let's do what the Cardinals do best with the farm club. If Albert can't handle 25 for 5 let the door hit him in the rump! It gets a lil old to see him at a fundraiser when he demands 30 for 10
I'm all in on this one too. Going to Montreal the following week for the F1 race. We'd best have a drive planned to go along with any social activities. I almost got the car out to go for a dirve yesterday, but then realized that the ice ruts in teh shaded alley behind the house would have left the 355 with all 4 wheels in the air. A little more melting please. Bill
Scott, is this one of your new ventures? http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/14/top-gear-china-pilot-to-include-cadillac-versus-donkey/
Haha, yep! Be on the lookout for our new reality show on the history channel - where we try to reform our show into a petting zoo for kids!
