Looking for a simple day trip in the DFW area with a small-town Christmas theme.
You know; the old town square type of town with the courthouse in the middle and a boardwalk of shops buillt around it.
    Any favorites or suggestions ?
We've done Granbury, Mineral Wells, and Midlothian in the past so am wanting something new to us.

Longview / Marshall do some Christmas stuff I believe.

There used to be a steam train in east Texas, maybe Kilgore, that you rode between a couple of towns.

Over half the stores were closed because of the weather or day after Christmas.
Even so it is a very nice square and we went to tour the neighborhoods after the shops closed.
I didnt even know this area existed. All of my McKinney business has been to the newer homes.

I have heard good things about Muenster, which is up north and west of Gainsville. That would be a good day trip. Denton and McKinney are good but they only take an hour to get there. Not much of a trip. Muenster or possibly Paris might be worth visiting.

Take photos and let us know where you end up or what you observed.

    Cheers,

    Jeff
