Well I just got back from Amelia Island and saw the Euro spec Daytona there sell for $192,500. To me this was too much as the condition wasn't that great and the pre auction prep left a lot to be desired. At this rate a true condition 1 Daytona will be a $300k car very soon.

If you can find a true Cond 1 Daytona $300K will be a steal!

Thats the one, wow I guess I should have bought it. I am surprised they are just re-listing it without even a check out are dealers making money this easily?

I have heard that stretching it $300K is the numkber for a top-notch Daytona. (must be the psychological thing of $300). $300's not a bargain, that's for sure.

    IMHO

the fact that autosport is offering it makes me wonder if it was a no-sale and the buyer bought it back and consigned it to them...i just doubt that they would have been the buyyer.

A local multi-Daytona owner called that car a turd :) . He found a number of things wrong with it. I'll let him pipe in if he wants.

Not sure about that but possible, it seems weird to have it up on the site so quickly after the sale. It was one of the last cars up on Saturday night and looked to be bid to that amount in the hall from where I sat. The photos on the website look to have been taken straight after the hammer fell.

I was really surprized at the lack of prep prior to the auction. There was grease on the seats and black thumbprints on the door handles etc. Paint was also cracking in a few places. It seemed to me for a few hours effort the car would have presented a lot better.

Well, it looks pretty good in the photos on the website link posted. But $245K? Sounds a bit crazy to me. Then again, I have no idea where the Daytona market is or is going. Im just glad I bought when I did because at prices like these I could not afford to buy one today.

Terry your car was in a different league to this one. To get this one even close to yours it would have needed a repaint etc.

Of coures this one was a great color...............................

Undoubtedly, the steering wheel on this daytona is an aftermarket wheel...but then, one can purchase a new wheel for 1 to 2K depending on conditions. What else is wrong with this "turd?"

Autosport Design states that the steering wheel will be replaced by them.

FWIW Aston Martin of New England also has it for sale on their site ar $242,500, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure what the relationship is between these two dealerships, but they seem to share inventory at times.

the color is somewhat refreashing, actually looks good on the coupe , but at 38k miles unless there are some receipts i would be saving some money for the inevitable! clutch, complete brake job, transaxle? and at 38k how much life does the engine have? i know the bottom end is strong but how about the heads? i think it is obvious where the daytona market is going..it just becomes a question is if you want a daytona or not..chuck

I saw that car last week. Looked at it for a friend.

US car, with smog pump removed and air hose disconnected. Air injector nozzles still connected into headers.

    Have to say that for a supposedly 12000 mile car, it didn't look that good. Interior needed a lot of work; dash original, but very faded and water stained; stitching going on seats;

Body OK. Paint looked fair, but viewing was restricted and lighting not favorable for detailed examination. Engine compartment shows evidence of a lot of work (see below). Would need a lot of restoration work. Original and correct Borrani wires.

Trunk smelled of gasoline, but they all seem to.

Correct Michelin tires, but age indeterminate.

A mountain of work had been done about a year ago on the engine. Perhaps $25000 to $35000 all told. Heads off, new timing chain; new clutch; flywheel turned; shocks rebuilt, etc. etc. Car went into service due to noisy valve train.

No pouch or original manuals. Tool roll there, but did not inspect it.

    Asking $245,000.

I did not hear it run or drive it, as the day was rainy.

All in all, not what I expected for that price and mileage.

Interesting. Fantasy Junction is advertising a Maronne car that is supposedly a "survivor".
