Can anyone tell me what differences if any, a Canadian delivery 1974 car might have from a USA car? Thanks in advance.

I do not think 74 had mandatory metric instrumentation (at least US made cars). Road signage changed in 1977. I do know I passed my driver's license in MPH in '77

The last Canadian delivery was a silver over black 1974 Daytona coupe *16997*. This Daytona was later repainted black and the interior color was changed to tan when restored back in the 80's. The Canadian import Daytona was no different than the USA market deliveries. They both suffered from the common problem of slow sales. In fact some Canadian market Daytona models were dealer traded to the USA (Chinetti). Also USA Daytona models were dealer traded to Canada. One Fly Yellow Daytona Spyder was traded from the Detroit dealer to the Toronto Ontario dealer. It was efficient since there were only two Canadian dealers being in Quebec and Ontario.
Not sure if there was a French version of the Daytona owners manual supplied for Quebec deliveries but it was a North America Daytona version that came here.
The metric version requirements for Canada didn't appear until 1977. Even then the Ferrari dealer in Ontario was importing Ferrari Boxer models brand new from Charles Pozzi the Ferrari dealer in France.

I am the current owner of 16997. It is in California now and in beautiful condition. I drive it once a week along Pacific Coast Highway. I posted originally because it has no shoulder harnesses, only lap belts, and there are only two holes in the trunk lid for the license plate surround and I wondered if there were differences. Any further info re 1974 would be greatly appreciated.

Incredible! Thanks for posting this kind of scary pic! Things were quite different back in those days I guess. I can say that 16997 has been classiched and is in a currently beautiful state mechanically and cosmetically, still black and tan. Can I ask you how you came about having this photo, and is there anything else you can tell me about its history, and the license plate and shoulder harnesses in Canada circa 1974?

The Daytona certainly had a .... unique look back then. Some guys also painted the 'blood trough' around the belt line black to. I got the picture some years ago from the owner. Only picture he had available. The 16997 car was purchased as a replacement for a 1971 14xxx blue Daytona coupe (purchased new in 1973 from the Ferrari dealer) that got rear ended while sitting at a traffic light. 16997 was purchased fall 1974 but stored away for the winter. The car was not put on the road until spring of 1975 I believe, thus the JON 333 lic plate. (The Ontario plate letter/number series started AAA 001 in 1973) The plate holder typically has four holes in the trunk but this car was either changed when painted or only ever had two. To confirm once again Canadian and USA market Daytona models were the same specification.

daytonas did not come from the factory with predrilled license plate holes. the license plate came in a cardboard box along with the tool kit and pouch, etc. the dealer installed the appropriate plate size according to country.
in the usa the dealer usually installed the standard american frame with the dealers name. that is how it was delivered to the first owner.
car left factory without holes on back panel.
ed gilbertson said no judging/deductions regarding license plate frames.

Thank you all for your responses. Last question if I may: in 1974 was a shoulder safety belt required? Thanks again....

I used to own the last Canadian Dino (#08106). A 1974 fly yellow 246 GTS - still in Toronto.
I have a picture of the speedo showing it had large mph numbers to 170 and smaller kph to 270 underneath. Also included was the additional info red book for USA versions. Lap belt only.

very interesting-lap belt only- as my car is currently---maybe the above mentioned 73 coupe was from a USA dealer...I was trying to get at whether or not a Canadian delivery would have had a shoulder belt as a USA model was required to...
