Got my heads done and the rear angle drive (items 1 and 2) studs are all out. I did not reference which are studded with the double thick 6mm nuts and which are the special 6mm shoulder bolts. The parts book doesn't show so hopefully a Daytona owner will feel around for me or put a mirror back there and give me an idea. Table 10 Group 28 in the parts book. Oddly shows qty. 5 of the shoulder bolts or item 53. Each drive has 7 holes in the book. Thanks for any help.

Here is a photo of the back of my motor.

You can see 4 studs, 2 locating roll type pins in the head. There are 2 tapped holes in the cam cover for 2 bolts.

Remember, bolts for the covers and studs for the head. Allows the covers to come off with the Dist. still attached.

Work of art for sure. Get rid of that background noise and make a poster of that engine. I would assume that's white ceramic on the headers? Your engine looked US but headers look Euro. Reminds me also I need motor mount covers. Yours looked very ribbed for pleasure and very OE looking. Are they full circle? Also, do you have a starter shield?? Hot starts are a drag, literally! I have some crafting to do. Thanks again Bill. Hope you're ok with a few more "can you take a picture of this" as I get my engine ready to reinstall! David in Ca.

    David,

You are exactly right, US motor with some repo Euro headers. They aren't ceramic coated in that photo. I may do that this winter. My motor mount heat shields were missing, so just quickly fashioned up some from some DEI heat shield, they go 3/4 around the mount. I do have a starter shield, but have the gear reduction starter with another shield. The stock US starter heat shield won't fit with those headers.

I tried to photograph everything when it came apart, just ask.

Bill, thanks again. Is that some High Heat White type paint? That's all I was going to do also. Sandblast and some HHB on mine. Also, depending on the publication, Euro engines have higher compression for the gain in advertised HP but stock I'm pretty sure they are all the same US vs Euro. I think the difference is in the exhaust port size, so to find out, did your US head port sizes match these Euro headers in size?? I read that US are smaller by a mm or 2. That would tell us a lot. Also, great looking headers. Did they come with the stud provisions for the heat shields? Great stuff! David in Ca.
