I am aware that the grill in cars with pop up headlights is curved at the end; that results in a grill that is wider at the bottom than the top. In looking at the body parts manual the grill clearly has an end piece that is straight, and is angled out as it drops; also wider at the bottom than the top.
12699's grill has vertical edges; simply an oblong shape. As it is assembled with brass rivets it appears very original. Is it possible that the plexi nose cars had two different shapes?

12301 (if you go to RM's website, you can find a bunch of pics) "barn find" car seems to have the "sloped" grill ends. I looked at a few other plexis on the RM site, and all seemed to have the same type of grill.

Thanks gcalex. I quit at 15/15 on the RM site with angled (and 1 curved?).
No need to look further; just time to talk with my new friends in Australia.
    Thanks again.
