    I am going to remove my oil pan just to clean out any residue that maybe left behind after oil changes and replace the gasket , is this a straight forward job or is there anything i should be aware of..thanks Chuck

    It could be “a straightforward job”, but given that it’s to be performed on a 50+ year old car/engine with who knows what kind of care or by whom it has received during those 5+ decades, anything is possible.

    You might want to check the integrity of the drain plug threads, really closely, and not have to repeat the job.
    50 year old car....
    Ever been inside the engine before, or rebuilt recently? Might check a bearing or 2.
