Does anyone have any good pics of GTS/4's? I will open the batting with this Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is the first pic with the yellow and black Daytonas from Miami Vice? I recall there was an episode with a female mechanic who Crockett thought was ripping him off, and the yellow Daytona was in the scene with his black one.
Extremely rare you might say. Only the first 365GTS/4 had this nose, and the above picture is not it. The rest had pop-up headlights. So, do cut coupes outnumber real spyders by now? -steve
71. It is a Euro with subtle differences in look, esp around the bumpers which are marginally closer to the body, and it also has a japanese license plate holder as that's where it came from when I bought it. Most of the Factory Spyders were US models which I guess makes it a tad rarer than the "common" US version It also was never fitted with factory air. AFAIK all US Spyders had factory air.
1. Not all USA Spyders had factory air. 2. There is no difference between the distance of a European bumper on a Daytona Spyder and an early USA Daytona Spyder. The bumpers were exactly the same except the Euro ones had plates where the reverese lights were attached. The next generation USA Daytona bumper was similiar except the chrome strut was now a wider (stronger) piece of metal. The last version of USA Daytona bumpers, Sept 1972 and later build dates, used the "extended" bumpers there attached to steel beams in the trunk and behind the grill in front for the new bumper regulations. I don't know how many of you have driven a Daytona but, in my opinion, there is nothing to top it as the ultimate. It's drop dead gorgeous, fast, heavy, surprising nimble and nothing matches it for sound. With proper (NOT top dollar) maintenance, it's a very reliable machine. As you accellerate through the gears, it just seems to want to keep going forever. I've spent considerable time in them on the track and there just does not seem to be any downside to the performance. I'm not sure if this is true but I was told that there was very little that had to be done to the engine to bring it up to "comp" specs. If you ever get the chance to spend some time at the wheel, you'll understand my commentary. Don't pass up the chance! Bob Z.
Bob - trust me, I will not pass up the chance should I get one. Just for now, how would you compare the force & feel of the steering and gear lever compared to an early Testarossa?
how do you find the cut coupe compared to a genuine spider ? (if you've tried a real one) there are so many contrasting comments about them - some ppl saying theyre rubbish, some say theyre as good (when done right) and ive even seen one or two ppl say they "can" be slightly better as when they were done the mechanics knew the shortcomings to try and avoid (not sure this isnt wishful thinking)
They are poop........ Without Factory installed frame reinforcement there isn't a cut car out there that would not display severe cowl shake if used as Enzo intended....
