Is this the correct steering wheel for my Daytona 16099. Did the earlier cars have wheels without the holes. I do know that the very early cars had wood wheels. Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
"MOMO" on the front is likely right for a 1972. The "sheen" is also very nice (something I also noticed when I saw the car at Copley); not weirdly "matte" the way everyone seems to favor these days. 1971 would generally have "MO" stacked over "MO" on the back of the spoke. Spokes without holes and with leather rim is more of a 1973 config. I have no idea what the actual change-over-dates are. @Dino6304: if you want to be ultra paranoid, you can check the back of the lower spoke. If it just says "Made in Italy", there is little doubt that the wheel is original. If also has some random other long number back there (I don't remember what the number is), it is possible that the wheel is of later manufacture (though still of the correct type).
this is what i have. will be listing them soon. all mo mo was located on back spoke and one was stamped lower. I have some cool stuff removed from a Daytona Spyder in period to replace with even more awesome wood stuff. Yes I have the serial number, but don’t have it handy. Even better yet, is the period swag. True signs you were legit back then. I would say solid black with age. Not some metallic makeup, I already put it back up and would have to go grab it again, but it is not shiny. The original horn ring is black. The surround is clearly lighter. I would say this is “Dark Gray Metallic” if that is how others describe the same. Shawn

Supposed to be an early Daytona wheel... 40 cm. The hub, how did it return the turn signal ? Through a rotary spring as in the AR of the time? Much prettier than the leather one, I like both, but well, just different, and very original, never restored. The hub nuts have been replced with the real stuff, ignore why the nylocs. Regards, Alberto
That is just what I thought. Any idea what is it from? Possibly an earlier model, 275? Regards, Alberto
The wheel in Post 15 appeared around 1965 on the 3.3L cars. These are different in construction, in that they are rivetless, as compared to the previous wheels of the 3.0L cars which are riveted and require the black cellulose filler that hides the heads of the rivets. john Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you John, learn a new one every day...and I thought that it was just a fashionable detail... Regards, Alberto
