dougal, since this thread is specific re daytona tires, can you confirm if cromodora wheels manuafactured 1969 and later do or do not have the safety bead?

I posted a picture earlier in the thread of a Daytona wheel without a tyre, and it doesn’t appear to have the safety hump.

Dougal, is it likely to cause any issues having the valve deep inside an offset well in the rim?

I cant without a picture. However the earlier picture of the rim from PDB definitely doesnt have a safety rib. I would fit tubes.

nope it is absolutely fine. that wheel is designed to fit inner tubes.

There are some silly racing tubes out there with metal valve stems that look cool, but can be a pain in the bum on some wheels. The Michelin inner tube with the rubber valve stem are best.

I dont know if any of you guys have ever been to Angouleme, but it is one of the best motoring events in the world. They close down a very historic fortress town in the middle of france that used to be an old Grnad Prix race and have a wide variety of historic cars race round it, including a Buggati race which is pretty epic. Last year i won the fast pre war car race, then i drove my car into a retaraunt maquee in the centre of town accross the square then drank the restaraunt out of champagne!
