Agreed on 16191. One of the nicest I have seen in many years! Very unlikely there is a nicer road version in this part of the world and certainly the nicest that might actually be bought.

    Cheers,

    Bill

It's a Euro version, maybe American buyers have a preference for Daytona models built new for the USA market.
On the other side of the coin 13231 the plexi nose car mentioned looks good visually except for the wrong size tires used. Wood steering wheel and no headrest for the seats are features not generally found on USA market Daytona models.

All good points. The tires can be changed, but the lack of headrest and wood wheel, aren't original on the plexi car? Which by the way, I like better visually, but the other car, on the other hand...

16191 is still for sale because the owner is expecting someone to pay his price and not what the current crop of buyers are willing to part with. Simple as that.

While the markets for most Daytonas are stagnant, steady and in some cases still correcting, a premium car like this one deserves a bit better price than your average example.

The market for such a particular Daytona is no longer exactly set buy the demands of the buyer. For the first time in nearly 18 months or so a premium is both expected and likely warranted in this case.

My gut feeling is someone will strike a deal on this one and a few who were waiting will wish they did.

As for US vs Euro, early vs late... After having nearly 150 or so come and go through the door, a mid to late Euro car is likely the purest of the design as well as the most sorted and desirable. There are still a few who would pay a premium for a late US car but that segment of the market and the premium for such a car is no longer the norm.

In many cases the difference between the values of Daytonas is now based solely on the car in question. How correct, how well restored / original and how well documented it is rather than US / Euro / Early / Late.

In any case, the next custodian of 16191 will be in for a treat. I just wish it were me.

good points. i think while 16191 may seem at the high end of the market...this car would be well bought at the asking price. again, it is among the very nicest / no excuse daytona i have seen in a long time. it also has the high output engine so i suspect it is a screamer too!

Thanks for the input, I thought it was one of the better ones I have seen in a long time as well.

I forgot to mention the one in Newport Beach and the one at FJ, seems to be a lot n the market at the moment.

    Thanks again...

At the end of January, they GPC was asking $335K for 16191. While I will leave the technical judging to others, I've never seen a Daytona which struck me as being so "right" in fit and finish.

Another question...the Ferrari Heritage Certificate, is it important and if so, is it something that is easy to get, provided it meets the criteria. PPI, what would one expect to pay and who would would be the best company to do it? OK, so that was two questions...

    Thanks.

I didn't see an answer for your question, so I can say the early Daytona models especially plexi cars came with wood steering wheels and no headrest on the seats being Euro version models. Some early examples had a leather steering wheel to so both versions would be correct. Some steering wheels also feature two holes in each spoke of the steering wheel; typically seen on USA leather steering wheels. USA cars didn't get the wooden steering wheel due to the more strict safety standards. 1966 was the last year an American car manufacturer offered the option of a wood steering wheel. As with every rule there are exceptions and the Chinetti Daytona Spider New York (1971) showcar was ordered with a wood steering wheel. Also the last Daytona spider 17073 (1973) was fitted with a wood steering wheel to.
Euro version cars had a less restrictive exhaust system and the early plexi nose cars were not legal to register for road use in the USA when they were new.

    16191 is perfect.

$325k isnt that much considering what you get, the best V12 Front engined Ferrari.

A 275 is prettier but lacks the punch of the Daytona.

The Ferrari Classiche certification is a topic on which everyone has an opinion and it has been vigorously argued in many FerrariChat threads. I leave it there......

If I was going to get a PPI on the GPC car in the San Diego area, two of the fellows I would contact have already commented on this thread.
