My wife loves the A-M styling and wants to trade her MB for an A-M. She really liked the Virage, but we want to avoid the new car depreciation, so we are thinking of a model 2008 or later. We rarely need the back seats, so leg room in the back is not a priority. The car is driven about 8,000 miles per year, mostly short trips with occasional 200-300 mile weekend trip. Car will be used in North Carolina. I would value suggestions and advice. Thanks, Keith

There are plenty of DB9's out there though a lot more convertables than coupes. A couple things to think about. Not to be rude but DB seats are not as adjustable as a Merc seat and they fit certain body types (meaning height and weight) much better than others so I'd suggest some seat time because for some people that big front end is hard to judge. Also not as techy and the controls not as intuiative. If you do not live near an AM dealer I suggest making sure you have a local shop that knows these cars even something as simple as changing a filter is not so simple in these cars.

Also, the back seats on the DB9 are pretty laughable. Try perhaps the Rapide, which is a gorgeous car, too, and has proper human sized back seats.

I agree, the Rapide is a beautiful looking car, but the backseats fit only for Kids or small adults, a Quattroporte or Panamera has much more space. First car is also beautiful, second is................!

Rapide is the way to go unless you are looking for a convertible.

I'm a big Aston fan with a bit of experience driving the V12s.

The automatic transmission is one of the best in the auto biz. Reason being is that it works great in auto and manual mode is true manual. The transmission won't override you like other systems.

Steering on the later cars (I've not driven anything older than a 2011) is fantastic, as communicative as a 911, I find. Brakes are just as good, handling is well balanced.

What you'll find is that they are a complete package, engineered with grand touring in mind, not outright performance.

    They're underrated and ridiculously elegant.
