I rented a Shaguar roadster on my last trip up to the Nurburgring and I was really happy w it.

I was near 150mph on the Autobahn, I felt like I was flying a Spitfire LOL

So wondering how its sister the DB9 would fare as a DD ?

    Are they reliable now ?

I hear they depreciate like stones but since I'll buy used not such a problem

The DB7 was based on the old XJ... but I don't think there is anything other than switchgear in common between a Jag and the DB9 these days...

William, nice to see you other than on P&R. I have a DB7 Vantage volante. The V12 is bullet proof,I have 70.000 miles on mine. Needs coils once so far. Great fast highway car, and are used ones cheap these days.If you buy Astons used they dont loose much on resale. I still wish I had my old DB2-4 MkIII, sold it for 10,000,now selling for 200,000!

The MkIII is a very underrated car, incredibly elegant.

Love the MK III's, don't love or have $200K in my pocket!

    I've seen some DB9s in the $69-$80k

At that price it seems like a great deal

I think the DB9 is still the best looking of the modern Astons. It seems to be the most accomplished design, which is unsurprising since it's the original. I like the DBS, too, because it's an angry DB9. But the 9 is my favorite. Have you tried one out, yet?

I do agree the DB9 is nice. But when I think of who supplied the motor- I get turned off pretty quickly. ;)

    It's a V-12, isn't it? Who's motor? Jag?

    I know it's a Ford platform.

Motor shares some design with Ford V6(doubled). IIRC they were initially built by Cosworth and then assembled in Germany and shipped to Gaydon.

Don't listen to those who never drove a DB9. All the flaming because of the Ford engine (in fact it's not a Ford engine at all) always comes from those who never owned an Aston. The V12 is very reliable.

I've had three (used) DB9 and used them as DD for a while. Without any problem. I got them from Italy for a very low price, all were first series cars (with the old Ford key instead of the emotionblabla crap thingy).

You can buy a DB9 even with high mileage, when it's well serviced (by AM dealer).

After the DB9s I was looking for a Vanquish S, which I own now. My dealer wanted to sell me a 09 DBS for a very nice price (car had 35000kms and was a manual). I tested the DBS, it's a nice car, but personally I like the db9 more, because I think it's more elegant.
DBS is a little (very little) bit faster and maybe a bit sharper, but that's it. Oh well, it's loud and it's harder than the db9.

Visit the AMOC community, you'll like it.

    Cheers
    Bjoern

agree, it's more of a Cosworth motor than anything else. great motor, lots of power and torque and reliable/durable.

I love the DB9, it's more of a GT/fast cruiser than a sports car for sure but I think it would be a great DD in an urban/suburban area.

and you can't beat the prices right now...

i had a db9 as my DD in manhattan, and it was great...personally, i found it a little large, so i traded it for a vantage, which i LOVED, but you can't argue with the styling, or the engine note..

Owned a DB9 for a short while. While a nice car it was too soft/shaky. To me, there was far too much cowl shake and it made the car seem a little cheap. Just my .02. The new Shaguar has my attention though...

If you call a DB9 cheap, please forget about the F-Type. This car is a bad joke. More like a Ford than a Jag (just my two cents).
