    That is a beautiful airplane.

Pretty sure the primary instrument part of the panel has been modernized.
I don't think it came stock with some of those instruments and CRT displays.

I doubt if that airplane looked that good when it first rolled out of Douglas' plant! I suppose Vettel and Webber have taken rides in it.

Gasp: what a history that airframe has!

Delivered to Yugoslavia, then to Yugoslavian Airforce, then to Zambian Airforce, and finally to Air Namibia. Pretty amazing stuff in the flight logs I'll bet....

    OOOOHHHH...I'm in love.

I miss the days when aircraft were not only technological marvels but also absolute works of art. Not that I was even close to being around back then, but it's nice to think about :)

    That airplane is magnificent!

It looks like he put Garmin 530s in it, which makes a lot of sense.

    Beautiful!

I cannot fathom what it must cost just to maintain that aircraft's flight worthiness!

    Also interesting:

When that DC-6 was first put in service (Oct '58), Jets (DC-8 and 707) were already flying. PanAm was flying 707's on scheduled routes the same month (October '58). The Convair 880 was flying in '59.

So it was already out of date, so to speak. Probably a big reason it never flew for a US airline.

Of course the DH Comet had been flying (and un-flying) for several years by then.

I wish they'd picked a Lockheed Super-G Connie to do that to... most beautiful prop airliner ever.

I know several Connies have been restored, KLM, Breitling, TWA America, Luftansa (maybe)??? but none like that.

I'm not an aviator, but old airplanes have the same appeal to me as old cars.

Back in the day, mid '50s-early '60s, I got a few rides in DC 3s, 6s, and 7s.

I missed that era by a few years......my first flight was in an Eastern "Golden Falcon" DC-8 in the summer of 1960. I never got to fly in a propliner.....

My first jet ride was in a Convair 880, around 1960. I still remember how amazingly smooth and quiet it was compared to the propliners.

An old Douglas with tricycle landing gear almost looks a little funny.

Pretty cool looking museum too and I love the hangar that its in.

My first commercial flight was in a Continental Airlines Convair 340, then a Continental Vickers Viscount (smooth).

Several flights in a TWA Connie. A couple on a United DC-7.

All as a kid. Much later, a Martin 404.
