I remember the story of the Bricklin in the showroom of the other building. The car sat there for quite sometime and was finally purchased by a couple that had just hit the lotto.
The Maserati banner in the picture currently hangs in my shop.

Why would a couple (who just won the lotto) buy a Bricklin when you have so many other cars to choose from? To each his own I guess. :)

Can you post a photo of the full Maserati Banner that's in your office?

Maybe the lotto winners were really into safety?

Great info on the DC area's exotic car community.

Any more old pics of exotics at area dealerships/shops?

I will dig some up and post when I can.

Found some photos from the early 1980's:

Pair of 246 GTS's out front, you can barely make out the headlight and front fender of an original 1964 Shelby/AC Cobra behind the front door

'71 Lambo Miura SV - Not sure why the eyebrows aren't in this picture. 365 GTC/4 behind the rear shot

1953 (or '54) 375 America - Ghibli Spyder in the reflection

You could probably buy all seven for just under $200K.

Now this picture(the one with the dinos and the miura) sure brings memories back . I remember maybe in the late 70s I would find a reason to run by there on my way to most places from my job as engineering aid for a company I think called secor they built flight simulators and occasionally I would have an assignment to carry a package to another company and somehow I would figure routes that took me by this dealership ... it was the highpoint of my week I was maybe 20 and working my want through college ... good times .... I always volunteered for anything heading that way.. so the drool marks on the cars may have been mine...
I have been trying to remember this place for the last many years as I no longer live in the area .. never thought I would be in the position to own this type of car ...

It truly does bring back memories! Thanks for posting those Rob

Larry, I'm sure some of those drool marks were mine!

And I continue to blame Ed Waterman for this continued classic & exotic car affliction.

The Operating Owner is Bill Story Sr who is based in Newport Beach. I beleive there are other financial investors as well. To my knowledge they only sell Ferrari's in Sterling, Va. and Newport Beach, Ca.

The ownership group may carry other brands in San Diego thought I'm not certain.

Anybody remember a guy named Francesco Silva that worked there? he was a good guy, I brought my 308GTB by and he fixed the AC for nothing. We got to be friends.I lost track and touch with him. It was the big 80's

Man, I love this place. I am pretty sure I saw that 330 2+2 a couple weekends ago. The same owner owns the car. He was telling how he had bought the car for the price of a Ford Mustang GT back in the 80s from Ed Waterman at this place call thoroughbred, which I had already been aware of. He then was telling how he spent another Mustang GT on do the body, another Ford Mustang GT to do the engine, and now he was probably 5 Mustang GTs in by now. Which to be honest, is a heck of a deal.

    iirc the SN was 5971GT

I would like to note, while Thorobred has not returned, and the few remaining car dealerships in Arlington seem to shrink annually, the old Dunkin Donuts is a Dunkin once again.
