Sent my FF to Boardwalk Ferrari earlier this month for a low oil pressure warning which they got sorted with a new battery. After doing some maintenance, tech took it for a drive and it now has a transmission fault for "selector position to low" and requires a new SAP. Quoted over $17k to pull the trans and replace. Also quoted $56,000 for a full DCT replacement (ridiculous). Anyone else had DCT work done? Curious what you paid... contacting some independents in the area or I may even get adventurous and replace myself, as the whole SAP kit is less than $5k through scuderiacarparts.com

The SAP kit is around 6000 Euro here in Europe and removing and getting back the DCT unit is about 2 days of work. The work of taking apart the DCT and replacing the SAP kit is maybe a day or 2 more.... Maybe 17K is a little overpriced, but not sure what the prices for labor in the US are. If only the SAP kit has failed (the gearbox electronics, in other words), I don't see why you should buy a new DCT unit, keeping in mind that all mechanic parts in it should be OK....

My dealer charges me 1000 Euro for removing and then getting back the DCT unit in the car.

I do have a whole DCT unit in perfect condition and working order, that I BELIEVE is from an FF, I can sell it to you if you want.

$17K at the dealer sounds like a good deal. I got a ballpark estimate a bit higher than that to replace the faulty sensors from (probably) the best independents in the PNW.

Hollywood Mechanic just quoted me "$24k" for an entire rebuild top to bottom new everything; however I dont know if I need all of that yet - I have like 6 error codes and running live diagnostics this weekend!

First, I feel horrible for you. Second, I've been through this. I posted about it elsewhere -- if you search through the many threads on this issue, you will find my story and many others. I believe you should be able to find a reputable shop to rebuild it for less than $20K. Not a dealer who will just want to put in another unit that will ultimately have the same issue.

If you do decide to rebuild the entire thing, I can vouch for Hollywood Mechanic as a super thorough and honest guy. Hard to find folks like him these days. 10/10 would recommend.

Call Exoticars USA in Milford, NJ. Tom (the chief tech) pioneered some of the DCT remediation work I believe. They may have a palatable solution for you.

they are my back up - its easier to use local talent down in San Diego - I'm going with an ex Ferrari tech /challenge team member who started up his own shop.

I understand convenience, but I will tell you that Hollywood Mechanic has all the required experience to do the job correctly the first time. I drove from Las Vegas to have home address my PTU prophylactically. He’s worth the extra effort

They appear to just be a general european indy shop where the NJ shop and Hollywood guy seems to specialize in this DCT....
