Thought everyone might get a bit of a laugh from my somewhat dodgy brothers method to de-rusting the inside of one of my heater cores (at a cost of about $10).

The heater core itself could be blown through and wasn't too bad really (only a little bit of resistance) - but rather than a new core or a complete brand new replacement decided to have a go at fixing.

Step 1. using about 350ml of Metal Rescue - put it into a container (this stuff is brilliant for de-rusting parts and I like it for small delicate stuff as unlike CLR or vinegar it doesn't eat into metal or plastics -*also attached an example of a brake disc before and after that I tested it on)
Step 2. purchase a little fish pump off ebay for a few dollars
Step 3. set up some hoses so it all goes in a circular motion
Step 4. Hook up to a couple of old batteries and let run until they run out of juice and or the metal rescue turns black (few hrs)..
Step 5 - potentially refill with new metal rescue liquid and run again

end result... when I blow through the pipes my de-rusted core now has what I consider perfect flow. I've also since shaken through some 'dry coat' rust proofing, now just needs a small bit of welding, bit of sanding and some paint and she's good as new (well almost)
