My interior is pretty much de stickied except the ashtray. Whoever did the work on the gear shift/switch panel broke it and it doesn't hold the switches well. I tried to fix it, but I finally gave in and bought a new one.

Should I go ahead and clean and paint it now, so it matches, or should I wait for it to get sticky, then take it back out?

That's up to you but it will go sticky.

Are you farming it out or doing it yourself.

If it can wait I can't see it being a issue. When it starts to get sticky take care of it.

Or do it now and it's done, no second chance to break it when you remove it. It's done.

I may just get it and sent it with the ash tray to SNM. I did the door handles, but I don't know if I have the patience for the details of the console.

    Too expensive to risk breaking!

I would just get it over with and fix it now. Then you can enjoy the car without any issues right away. It is amazing to not have that problem inside my car finally after two years. I should have taken care of it day one.
