Can't find any info on this - can we temporarily deactivate the front/rear parking sensors on the 599? Not the button up top for the motion alarm, but the proximity sensors. If I'm close to a wall, for example, when I come out to start the car the sensor alarms go crazy while I'm waiting for the systems to clear and give me the OK. That can be 30-45 seconds and the sound is so loud you can't even communicate when it's dinging away... If it's somewhere in the manual, please point me to it. Thanks.

Can't you press the parking sensor button on the console, or does that just turn them on?

Forgot to mention, when I press the console button, nothing happens. Does it have to be pressed at any certain time? Like before inserting key, before starting engine, etc? Or maybe mine is just not functioning. Thanks.

In my car it was only be 3-4 seconds for the ok to come up, front sensors did not activate not unless I put the car in reverse or pressed the button to turn them on.

On my 07 612, the parking sensors automatically activates when put in reverse. To disable them, just press the press the parking sensor button. This button should toggle whatever mode the sensors are in. When parking straight ahead, I typically toggle them on to avoid impacting the front bumper (assuming you have the optional front sensors).

You make it sound like there is a menu option for turning off the sensors. That's what my original post was asking about. I guess my center console sensor button doesn't work, because no matter when I push it, the sensors never turn off. I couldn't find anything in the manual about a menu option for sensors - is there one? Thanks.

Bob, mines the same i.e. if I reverse into garage and switch the car off with it still in reverse, on restart the alarms go crazy. Only way to cure it is to put it in 1st switch off and back on again. To avoid the best way is to reverse in, stop, select 1st or neutral then switch off

On the 612, at least, I don't think there is any sort of menu for the sensors-- just the button. It toggles them on or off depending on what state they're in.

Mark's point is interesting. I never back into my garage, so I've never seen that. However, I usually turn them on when pulling into the garage for the front sensors, and when I restart the car, they default to off. I can see how that would be different for reverse, though.

Perhaps the switch is bad and needs replacing. It should be easy to diagnose since I'm pretty sure it's a CAN signal.

Thanks for the replies. I always pull directly into the garage, put trans in neutral, then shut off car. So it always starts up in neutral, then I have to get reverse to back out. That's when sensors go crazy. When I take it in for annual service (I got the car in January), I'll have them check out the sensor button on the console, along with a few other gremlins I've noticed (but nothing so serious that I can't drive it as much as I want to!).

I just tried this on my 612. If I start in neutral and put it in reverse, pressing the parking sensor button turns the parking sensors off. Incidentally, the button is illuminated when the parking sensors are on.

It sounds like your button is bad, or you have a broken wire, or something.

Thanks Scott; I didn't know this was in the set-up menu. Unfortunately, my setting was already in the 'off' position (just like in your pic). Can't figure out why the sensors would be on with the setting in 'off'. And without the console button working, I guess they're always on until I get it fixed. I will play around with the settings in set-up, now that I know where to find them. Thanks again.

Problem is excess of paint on the parking sensor ...
Just remove excess of paint in the center circle of your sensor...
