I woke up this morning to a dead battery in my 430. The instrument panel still lights up and radio turns on, but the engine won't turn over.

I know it's in the passenger footwell, but I guess I'm just wondering how hard it is to get to, if you have to disconnect one terminal before another (if so, which one?), etc.

I'm also surprised there's no safe way to jump the car. I'm not going to try to to do it, but given the horror stories I've read about on here, I'm kinda surprised.

Its all in the manual including their opinion that the car can be jumped but from a stand-alone battery ie not attached to another car

When was the last time you started the car? How long was it sitting? Sorry to hear...

Isolate battery using switch in bonnet (I presume there's one in the 430 also? my experience is with 360)

At battery, disconnect negative first, then positive.

Charge battery and reconnect after charge doing positive first followed by negative. Turn isolator switch on again.

On the 360 when you turn on ignition you should wait 20 seconds or so after lights come on before you crank the engine, probably the same on 430 and sure it certainly won't do any harm. This allows the electronic throttles to run through a full open/close cycle and reset their limits.

    Good luck!

The battery is the original 2006, I think it probably needs to be replaced. I did manage to get the battery out, though, which is a plus.

Do I need to spend the $$$ on the OEM replacement (which seems absurd) or is there an aftermarket battery that would work for the 430? The local car parts store was baffled by a request for a Ferrari compatible battery, so... Help? :)

If you try looking there's a few different recommendations in this section but as I'm no expert on 430s do a search yourself on 430 replacement battery and see what comes up & makes sense to you

Most questions have been asked before

There are fancy lightweight replacements out there which some people go for but no, all you need is a regular car battery of more or less same size and amp hour capacity. Suggest you take it to your auto store say nothing about F car and just ask for generic replacement.

If you used the orig. charger that came with the car it is known for failing thats why I got the newer version.
    -Good Luck :)
