It could be a problem if left too long. The battery will still deplete over time. Also, if you do that, before reconnecting be sure that both the battery terminal and the cable are clean so that you have a solid connection. Use an ultra fine sandpaper to clear the surfaces of any contaminants.

    Good to know Paul.

It would be interesting to put a current meter in line at that point to see how much is drawing. I know from experience a 1/4 amp draw won't take long to wipe out a charged battery, and that can be from 1 relay engaged.

Went to check the 612 this evening. Battery was fully charged and the little beauty started right up. Drove for about 30 mins until everything was fully warmed through and had no problems or error messages. Fingers crossed there are no lasting issues or additional expenses from this. The car even smelled good!

When you disconnect battery terminal or turn off power with the kill switch it resets the engine ECUs. Among other things this means you will reset the OBDII monitors, which can be quite difficult to get to set. If you are in a state or place like CA, this means a smog failure, i.e. can't renew registration until it can pass (monitors set) - smog check every 2 years. In CA I would never turn off power unless absolutely necessary, but then again, our driving season is 12 months, so no winter storage :)

Thank you all - that worked for me. As in get in the car and pull the thingy in the back seat.

Probably the only time the internet has ever been useful!!

Ferrari has emergency release cables everywhere! Trunk, engine bay, fuel lid, I think it goes back to the days when their electronics were anything but reliable ;)
