    The battery on my F430 has died. The central locking won't work with the remote so I have to open the door with the key. The button that opens the front luggage compartment lid is dead so I can't get to the trickle charger socket. Any suggestions??

    The battery is located under the passenger foot rest and can be accessed with basic tools. Either access it there and attach a charger, or remove the battery and have it tested/charged at a local Walmart or auto parts store.

    Isn't there a manual release pull for the boot under the dash on a 430? There is on the 360.

    Yes, to the left of the steering wheel under the dash. Black loop.
    On the passenger side is a red loop for the glove box.

    I replaced the battery in my scud a couple of weeks ago after trying an entire day of charging etc...I went to advance auto and got a new optima battery which is what was already in place whole job took maybe 45 minutes including going to the store.. just reconnect and start it will relearn in about a few second and all works fine.. no big deal... I spent an entire day reading up on what to do and it turned out to be much easier then replacing the battery on my 63 corvette which I also did that weekend (getting ready for spring)....

    Thanks for you help guys, found the release hoop and have got it on trickle charge now.

    The problem with a dead battery is it will never be up to its full capacity. Your alternator may be working harder. Just get a new battery.

    This is a good time to check the alternator as well. Bad alternator = not charging battery = dead battery.

    I heeded the good advice and bought a new batter; slpashed out on the Bosch 096 AMG and fitted it this morning. I put the charger on the car earlier and seven hours later the 100% red light is lit. All good until I go to start it and it wont even turn over and the engine check light is on. Any advice or suggestions would be welcome before I have to have it collected to go to the garage.

    I think the red light on a "Battery Tender" battery tender, means that it's charging. When it's green it's done. Even though mine was red at first, then green, the battery was still dead, replaced the battery and went with e Ctek charger.

    This may help. From the Owners Manual.
    After removing the battery from the vehicle
    or disconnecting it from the electric system
    by means of the special switch, when
    reconnecting and before proceeding with
    starting the engine wait at least 10 seconds
    with the ignition key in position II to allow
    the electronic system that controls the
    motor-driven valves to run the self-learning procedure

    Oh, geeze! Here we go. In every one of these threads, someone has to bring up that whole owner's manual thing. Where's the fun in that?
