    Hello,

I've been trying to recharge the dead battery of my CS and surprisingly the CTEK battery tender seems not to detect the battery.

I then used a battery charger that I normally use with my other cars to jump start it, and this worked like a charm, except the alarm kicks in and I'm unable to start the engine.

What can I do to start up the car ? is there an easy way to bypass the alarm so I can crank and start-up the engine using the battery charger ?

    Thanks

Don't try any shortcut, please. Change the battery. Electronic is SO delicate and, as for 360, almost irreplaceable.

Not surprising. Battery "tenders" are not designed to recharge completely dead batteries. In some cases you can fool them, but you're risking damaging something if you don't have the battery disconnected from the car.

Can you clarify what you mean by this? How do you jumpstart a regular car with a battery "charger"? Do you mean a power pack? Are you trying to parallel a completely dead battery which may have other issues when it was completely flattened?

The easy way is to buy a new battery and cut your losses. Not all 360's are wired up the same way with respect to the alarm system. It's difficult to offer advice when we don't know how your car is wired up.

I have had my car switched off for approx. 4 months working on the interior leather, stickies, etc. I needed to lower the window and my battery was completely dead!

I wonder if the switch off really disconnects everything?

It depends on the assembly number and whatever aftermarket modifications you have made to the car. Some 360's have the alarm siren earth (ground) hardwired to the siren, bypassing the cutoff switch. I can't imagine the siren using much power, but they do develop faults from time to time.

Also, batteries still go dead if they are left for a long time (albeit slowly).

New one always better after going completely dead. Cheap insurance for getting stranded possibly.

Why do Ferrari owners do everything they can NOT to replace a $150 battery? I don’t get it… I replace mine every 3 to 4 years.
