I am trying to help my buddy with his '74 Dino. He went to start it and it cranked over, caught once and stalled. When he turned the ignition key to try again, he had no electrical power at all - either to the starter or to any other accessory - whether switched through the ignition switch or not (like dome lights, etc.) The battery shows 12.8 volts on a voltmeter, the ground cable is connected to the chassis and shows continuity, the lead from the battery to the starter shows continuity, and none of the contacts to the ignition switch are corroded. It looks from the wiring diagram that all power comes through the ignition switch to a switched terminal board and to a permanently live board. Could it be somwhere before the ignition switch, or the ignition switch itself? Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check the Ammeter connections, hey are heavy gauge wires because they carry all the current. If it goes bad, you're toast.

Thanks, Synchro. It was the ammeter. As soon as we jumpered it, everything came back to life. It seems unusual that all the power runs through the meter, but maybe that is one of the charms of the car.

    Appreciate the help.

You're lucky, as I've heard of dash fires from a failed Ammeter.
