I have a reference quality single disc Denon CD/DVD player that may have just died this morning. I was looking for something that worked to play movies, as well as was a higher quality single CD player (system is mostly Krell). I am planning on picking up a Sony PS3 to use as a blue ray player.

Budget is about 1K. Any suggestions?

I don't know of any combo DVD/audiophile grade CD player. Seems to me to
get top quality player you'll most likely have to have one player for each format.
For CD, I'm a big fan of the Rega Planet: http://www.stereophile.com/cdplayers/634/
They run around $800 and for that money, I don't think there's much out there
that can compete. I run mine direct into 2 Grommes Precision C360 chrome tube
mono-blocks (no preamp - just the direct line inputs on the amps) and then into
Kirksaeter Silver Tower speakers. Best sounding CD player I've ever used.
