Anyone else watch this show? I think this is one of my favorite non car related shows. I find it to be absolutely fascinating what those guys go through. I often find myself wondering if I would have what it takes.

I do. I haven't seen the new episode yet though.

While I'm sure I could do it, I don't think I have the balls nor the want to be up for long periods of time without sleep.

I've watched it since the beginning.

I would NEVER be able to put up with the misery those guys endure. I can't imagine being cold and wet and dead tired most of the time.

$12.99 a pound (Sam's Club) for King Crab is a bargain.

I have six episodes in the queue to watch on my DVR. After you have watched X amount of episodes, though 'new' episodes are new, the content is very much the same from season to season. Being a crab lover and understanding that guys die catching them, I always say a quickie prayer before I sit down to eat King or snows, as there was a good chance that somebody lost their life catching what I was eating. No way I would do that sort of work!

as for the $12.95 mentioned above from Sam's Club, I get King legs for $7.95 to $9.95 a pound 4-5 times a year at a local grocery store and it's yummy! I'll polish off 6-7 large legs with some fresh garlic bread, a Caesar's Salad and a beer. Purdy good meal in my book!

Deadliest Catch is an awesome series. I don't watch much TV, but that is one of the very few shows that I regularly watch. What I think is funny though, is how the Discovery Channel manages to make "rock stars" out of the people on these reality working series shows. Look at what happened to the guys from both Orange County Choppers and Deadliest Catch- they have video games made about their jobs! I can't imagine that Captain Sig Hansen or any other members of the crew of the Northwestern have probably had to pay for their meals anywhere they choose to dine out in the Pacific Northwest for about the past two years. That's truly livin' the American dream! I just hope that no members of the crew of the Northwestern catch any of "those" kind of crabs (and I'm not talking about king or opilio crabs) as a result of them being rock stars if you know what I mean.

Man, those guys get all the breaks! I'd like to have a show and a video game made about my day-to-day life selling timing devices to Military contractors that are designing smart bombs and guided missiles!

I'm sure that the writers at the Discovery Channel could even make selling timing devices dramatic. Ice Road Truckers, American Loggers, and The Detonators..... all are on their way to rock stardom. They have even made those turbo-nerds on Mythbusters sexy! I'm just waiting for the guys on Deadliest Catch to get their own action figures. I can see it now- "For only $59.95 you get the complete crew of the Cornelia Marie complete with slicks, grappling hook, and cigarettes. Note: Tattoo decal kit not included."

My wife and I have never missed a show. We feel like we know some of the crew personally. We cringe every time they light up a cigarette, especially Phil.

I watched the 1st seasons. Having worked w/ boat captains & crew for 10 years w/ the University of Georgia, I can tell you pro fishing/crabbing is real man stuff. You go & work a few days on a shrimp boat in lazy Atlantic seas off the coast of Georgia & find out if you are a real man. We had a seasoned sailor & biologist that did a season on a crab boat in the Bering Sea w/ his brother for extra money. They were beat to sh*t & worked sea sick the entire trip. Once was enough.

That was a WOWZERS and a Half! Thanks for sharing that. UNREAL! I liked the prep table carved from ice! Ramsey DOES have some balls. I'd spend a day on a crab boat in rough seas before doing anything as crazy as that!

EDIT: I watched it again and when they were on the snowmobile, it sounded as if whoever did the editing, they dubbed in some F1 engine sounds! Watch it and tell me if I am hearing things!

If you find them, please tell the price. I have to think that your lobsters are fairly inexpensive Vs what we pay for them on the west coast.

I've watched a couple episodes, two of the three were about someone going overboard, and the Coast Guard finding them.

I'm not a real prayer-head at the dinner table, but I do ask that God bless all the balls of steel guys who died while they were fishing for my meal!

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Thats a $87 meal down here.

There's a store here selling them for $28.98 CDN a pound, and its 1 pound per leg.

Sucks seeing that were only a ferry away, 1,327 miles from Alaksa.

Haven't checked to see if Costco or other large stores have any.

My respect for those guys just went up another notch after last night's show. I can't believe that anyone survived from the Katmai (sp?) accident. 17 hours in a life raft with 30 ft seas and 80 knot winds sounds insane.

I saw the tail end of that episode. When they showed the home video footage of them talking about having video to show at their funerals was very erie.

They even mentioned in the video that they should be on Deadliest Catch. I don't think that was what they had in mind..

While you are eating them, think about the fact that you may be eating a few caught by deck hands that may have died while catching your meal. I took a TV screen pic of an episode I watched last night that was very sobering. One boat was hit hard in 40-foot seas and put on it's side. While evacuating, one of the seven Men who drowned was the boat's engineer who after the boat got hit, decided to go back into the engine room to get the motors started to save the ship. He was among the seven who died that night. The surviviors were interviewed at the bar at Ducth Harbor in which they spoke about the 16 hours of hell they went through in the high waves in an enclosed life raft. One guy started to cry while telling about the C-130 that flew right over them and went on to a different search grid. They all thought that was the end for them!

Point well taken and not to minimize the loss but I think the guys on "Katmai" were fishing for cod.
