I did the same thing years back when I bought my 1993 512 TR in 1996
The dealer ended up meeting my price doing a service and replacing the windshield
They think they own the market
What they fail to realize is that it’s you the customer what makes the market not them
If more people did what you did the market would be realistic
But too many buyers fall into the money trap of I’ve got to have it
Wait let the market come to you, the cars will depreciate even further
Just watch
I was told to always buy a car like a drug deal
Cash and be prepared to walk away
Because it could be a set up!

 

I too am in the market for a 488, and the dealer salesman was soo pushy, and short - it was almost as if he knew the value of the vehicle in question was about to fall off a cliff so to speak. I think come xmas or better yet the next decade, you’ll see some sellers warm up to the idea of positive negotiations experiences again. Just my 2 cents.
