Found the new edition of Ferrari magazine #4 on my front doorstep this morning. Had apparently received the first three as gifts from Ferrari corporate. This time the cover letter says that not only new owners but customers of their dealer network who have purchased a new ferrari from them in the last three years will continue to receive this years editons compliments of their dealers. I guess I have to write a thankyou letter to CAS. I can't tell if this is just a marketing tool by Ferrari Italy pushing their dealer network to show some customer appreciation on their dime. Or the magazine isn't selling as well as they thought it would. And are now forcing the dealers to buy the magazines at their own expense and forward them to their respective clients over the last three years. Pushing both the circulation and revenue numbers of the magazine. I personaly appreciate the gesture but remain unclear of exactly who and what is buying and selling. I'm just curious if anybody else who has bought a new ferrari from CAS or LF over the last three years has recived their copy and what their thoughts might be on the subject. I've found the majority of their magazine content revolves around F1. As well it should, considering ferrari heritage and all the technology derived from it. I'm just saying maybe discounting F1 tickets or their driving schools in Canada and Italy thru corporate to its loyal customers would be a better sell and a better marketing tool. This of course would put the added cost at corporates feet rather than the dealers. Sometimes the ferrari magic wears a little too thin and is a llittle more transparent then they would like to believe. Just my .02.

The driving school you are referring to is in Mont Tremblant and it is first rate. The only school of its kind outside of Maranello. I drove the track (no, not in a Ferrari) and it is awesome. Schumacher calls it the Nuerburgring of North America. I saw the Ferraris they use for the school and visited the hotel where the participants stay. All first class.

PS: The "Ferrari Challenge" game for the PS3 features the track and it looks exactly the same IRL.

I'm headed to the Mt. Tremblant Ferrari Driving Experience in August, compliments of Ferrari Financial Services. Incredible perk, considering I didn't have a choice of financing when I bought my car.

    Awesome!

You are developing your driving/racing skills at an unbelievable pace this summer. Skippy, Road America track time and now Mont Tremblant.

Get somebody to take some shots of you at Mont Tremblant.

PS: I got a few nice track events lined up this summer myself, so I won't get too jealous. Lets compare notes in our fall gokart race. :)

I think you may have me confused with someone else. I haven't been to Skip Barber since '95 and didn't sign up for drivers' school at the FCA Nationals. And even though I live only a few miles from Chicago Indoor Racing, I've never been karting.

    Oops, my bad, sorry.

Indeed I mixed you up with Pete, speedracer, also a 599 owner, who started the thread. I didn't pay attention to the avatar name and just thought he had now gotten his Mont Tremblant deal after all.

Thats okay Andreas. We have talked about both from time to time. Told Gary recently that I would be attending the poor mans version of Mont Tremblant via skip barber this summer. I look forward to hearing all the details upon his return from the sunny province of Quebec, Canada. Its definitely on my list of things to experience. Bon Chance! Andreas, we need to get Gary involved in Karting. I can't be the only new guy making a fool out of myself.

No worries, I'm sure after Skip Barber your karting lap times will go down. It is all about technique and seat time. Technique you'll learn at Skippy and seat time comes eventually. With me it took about 3 years, then suddenly something clicked and it all came together and it has been easy ever since. Which is btw very similar to racing virtually: The first couple of years I sucked, then suddenly I figured it out. Not a deliberate act or thought, just something in your body and reflexes and it all starts to flow.
