So my car was at Morristown BMW having the transmission checked out and the bumper was scratched. Really, really small mark so the dealer sent it to their independent body shop to be fixed. The bodyshop repainted the mark but also clear coated over my 3M Clear bra. Dealer gives me back the car, I notice the issue and the dealer takes the car back to remove the clearbra and repaint. So two weeks go by and I go to pick up the car today and I notice the trunk, roof and side windows feel like sandpaper; there is what appears to be primer overspray, a dab of bondo, the orange peel is beyond bad, there are drips in the paint, etc. The overspray is the most serious issue. The dealer says they can polish and claybar it out but how is this possible. Any advice on next steps?? I own the car this is not a lease.

My friend is going through the same thing with his lexus, he got it back on Friday from the second time it was there and we were looking at it and it has marks on it worse than when he took it in.

He is taking it back again.

Sorry to hear that Jim. The same happened to one of my cars in the past. The whole car was wet sanded with very fine sandpaper then re-polished. It looked fine afterwards.

Tell them to fix the car ASAP. If it comes back again and still isn't proper {or takes an extended period of time} take them to small claims court.

Other than that just be the nice guy and let them attempt "another go at her".

Really not that big of a deal. They will just wet sand and buff. The bigger issue is the attention to detail of the body shop. Over spray happens all of the time and is nothing to worry about. But they should have handled it before they gave it back to you. Your dealer should look for a different shop.
