So I am on market for a used F430 car. The dealers are charging 50k plus over market value for a used car! I see used nice F430 for 90-120k right now but dealers want 150k for normal F430 (not Scuderia). Why the huge markup? Even the Aston Martin and Bentley dealers are not charging this obscene markup.

a sub 5k mile 07 with carbon breaks, 08 or 09s with low miles will be 130 to 160. A 25k mile 05 will be 90k. so it depends

I would beware of buying bottom dollar cars. Easily spend 20k on fixing minor stuff.

Three common faults and maintenance items will set you back almost 20k:

    - Need new clutch
    - Need new suspension bushings (front and rear)
    - Need new exhaust manifolds

Keep in mind, a Ferrari dealer makes most of his money from service and parts. Selling maybe 10 cars a month won't make bank anywhere.

So what would be a good deal on a 2008 F430 Spyder with 8900 miles on the clock F1 transmission in good condition?

What was the sticker? If it was a high 200s car I'd say 130k retail

    Sticker from 2008 was $257,970 retail/ $226,840 dealer invoice.

Wow I need to sell these cars. Make 31k per sale. Incredible! Porsche makes a lot too on each car.

well usually 5k profit is normal at least when I sold high end cars. Making profit is fine but ripoff is not that is pure greed.

Dealers only hire sales people with Ferrari or Lambo sales experience.

Odds are this car belongs to a customer who is trading it on a new car. The customer already knows the wholesale number and can sell the car in 24 hours. In the meantime, he or she is waiting to see if they can get more than wholesale. If you want to buy the car, find out what the wholesale is and offer say $5k more. Who knows? It might be your lucky day.

Compared to what? Let's say a Toyota dealer makes $3,100 a car. Wanna guess how many cars a Toyota dealer sells a month? Wanna guess how many cars a Ferrari dealer sells each month? The math is easy. Let's say Ferrari actually makes 9,000, which they don't. Rounding up, there are 200 dealers. So let's divide 9,000 by 200 and you get 45 cars a YEAR. I'll let you figure the monthly average. Bottom line, really, the sales side does well to break even and cover some overhead. The real profit is in service and PARTS, particularly parts.

Be my guest. Go into your nearest Ferrari dealership and show them what a smart guy you are. Show them you have got it all figured out. I doubt you will drive out with a car. I'm not saying you can't and shouldn't drive a hard bargain. But, be nice about it. Your local dealer is holding all the cards.

Well that's the rub. I'll just bid online until a deal is found. Rather buy a well sorted car at good price than overpay by 40k. You don't get rich by making dumb financial decisions. The 430 market is still dropping now that the 488 came out over a year ago. Guys with 458 want a 488 so makes selling 430 and 360 more challenging. It's a buyer market now.

If I was in the market, and I'm not, the car I'd pay attention to is the F599. Anytime you can buy a V12 for less than a V8, I'd think seriously about it.

Agree the 599 is awesome car. I'd love one to eventually replace my M3 one day.

Right. I just started looking and not that crazy about the color scheme on the car. I much prefer red, white, yellow, silver colors. Black is ok but hard to see the lines.
