I wish my local dealer's salesman would talk to me... I bet they could convince me to buy... but every time I walk around I get the silent treatment.

You know this makes me wonder about 2 things:

    1) Actually faking it by fallign to the floor and stayign there until someone comes and then say "Oh good, you finally came I'm interested in that 911 over there.."

    2) Just hopping in the floor models, playing with every switch, jumping aroudn in them, slamming the doors/trunk until some one arrives. "Oh thanks for noticing. I wanna buy one of these can you help me?"

    In either case, film it.

You seem to be pretty bothered by Ferrari of Houston's practices. Out of curiosity, when was the last time you took your Ferrari to them?

As I have stated, never got their attention to buy anything. Was ignored a couple of times, was stood up on pre-arranged appointments two other times. Wasn't interested in the business.....the essence of what the OP stated which is why I brought it up.

Thank God we have some good options for sales and service from independents in town.

Never had a bad experience at any Ferrari dealer. Been to several around the country. I go in, walk around, usually someone asks if I need help and answers any question I ask. Not sure why anyone would act like a jerk or want to act like a jerk in a dealership.

That was stooopid. Clearly wasting the sales rep time. Its like going into the Ferrari or Lambo dealership and saying "WOW.. ITS HOW MUCH? I'm not paying that much for a car!"

The go to a f****ing Kia dealership and stop wasting their time.

The problem though is you can't discern easily the wheat from the chaff.. and it seems that at least by the responses posted on FChat, many dealer sales teams have trouble with this distinction. After the second "you can take that off" stooopid comment, I wouldn't have faulted the sales associat for asking him "if he has any intention of buying this car". Def. by the third stupid comment I might have said something.

It's OK to fire a bad customer... once you know who they are.

In most car dealers I pray they won't talk to me. Car buying is the most distasteful thing I have ever done. But then long term exposure will do that to you.

Is any of this dissatisfaction any different in any business? I mean really. Does every restaurant you go to satisfy your every need and desire? Or drycleaner or gardener? Or tax accountant? Or doctor?

If they do I want to live in your perfect world.

I hate to say it but mediocrity is the new excellent to many.

the difference is you're not forced to go back to any other business. If you want a new Ferrari many only have one dealer to go to. That really sucks.

Life ain't perfect. I don't think we are really forced to go to any Ferrari dealer. Having been around them for over half my life I can say the situation with good ones and bad one has never and isn't ever going to be significantly different.

Completely agree. The first Ferrari I ever sold was to a guy in his early 30's who took a cab to the dealership, walked in wearing board shorts, flip flops and sunglasses. The guy had just sold his company and came to congratulate himself with a new toy. Where most salesmen would have probably blown him off, I chatted him up and it took a very short amount of time to find the right car for him. A wire transfer later and he left in his new prize.

Many years ago, a female friend asked me to go car shopping for a new Jaguar. Went to the local dealer and we both were totally ignored and then treated like total crap when someone decided to talk to us. The whole time he talked down to both of us.

The next day she bought her new Jag from another dealer. The first thing I made her do was drive to the original dealer, find the salesman that treated us like dirt and for her to ask him how to turn on the stereo......Should have seen the look on his face....PRICELESS!

I was in Ellis Porsche today, nobody came outside (in the rain) to help me but when I went inside they were nice. talked to one sales guy for about 10 minutes, they had two 991 GT3s on the floor waiting their engine replacements; he got a call, I excused myself. overall I thought it was fairly good response to a tire kicker.

FOA is outstanding, great dealer. if/when I buy a Ferrari they're the first place I call.

I think Mediocrity is accepted (not excellent, just accepted) in small value, repeat transactions... A restaurant, dry cleaner, gardener, tax accountant will usually treat you with a minimum level of respect and frankness because they want your repeat business, and the ticket prices are usually lower. Doctors, I can't make the analogy there, too different.

A car salesman/dealer and, dare I say, car repair shops, rarely care if they get repeat business, and are usually high-ticket items relative to most you described, so it stings much more when you feel like you're getting your head ripped off.

I think you're an exception, Rifledriver, based on your reputation on this forum, but you'd be the rare exception.

I had a great experience at Ferrari of palm beach a few years ago. I was getting my Range Rover serviced at Range Rover palm beach since the Orlando dealership is so bad at customer service, and they gave me a loner car to use for the day. I drove down to the Ferrari dealership in the loaner, a jeep liberty, walked in and had the general manager at the time, start talking to me. I was looking at the California but did not have the budget for one at that time. Just wanted to see it. He suggested i take it for a drive. I refused since I Was not going to be able to buy it, but he insisted. Now he did know I owned a 348 spider so maybe he thought I would buy a car from him in the future. He made me want to buy a car from him. Great guy for sure. I went back in about a year later and guess what? He remembered who I was. Amazing! I can't even get anyone to get off their a$$ at my Ferrari dealership to acknowledge that I even exist and I have had both my 348 and 430 spiders in for routine maintenance there.

    HA, FofPB, what a joke!
I do have to admit that they are great pre-sale. Super friendly, overly accommodating, serve you drinks, take you for test drives, great communication (never waited more than 10 minutes for a call back)....absolutely great.....but they are not getting another penny of my money ever again. Their after sale treatment was the worst I ever received out of any dealership that I've ever used! Lots of broken promises, lies, no call backs, shipped a car to me without fixing things that they promised etc. Took me about 3 months to get the situation sorted out after handing that check over. Don't hand a check over, and they will be fine. Thankfully after the long battle, they sent me a check for the amount that it took to make the car in the condition that they promised. I was satisfied with the outcome, but it shouldn't have taken extreme persistence on my part for them to "do the right thing". Lesson learned.

I remember a thread about a problem with your car and their dealings. I guess it's good I never bought a car from them yet. At least they finally paid up. I guess I'll keep taking the test drives. Like I said, and as you've stated, they were great when I entered the dealership which means a lot compared to other dealerships . Great first impression.
