I scratched up my 812's front bumper and so brought it to an authorized service center. But after being shocked by the price, I asked them in writing if it void my warranty to go to a 3rd party shop. They signed off, stating that the issue is cosmetic and has nothing to do with the factory warranty.

To make a long story short, out of spite the dealership locked my vin's warranty and services in the Ferrari network. Simply because I took my business elsewhere and I then had the nerve to go back to them for the free first maintenance.

Emails to Italy are getting me no where. Does anyone know of any way for me to go around that specific dealership amd restore the warranty?

In the US at least they'd have to show that the 3rd party work caused the warrantied failure to deny you coverage. They can't void your warranty across the board. I'd check your countries laws to see if thats true there as well. Maintenance plan is probably fair game though.

They listed my vin as in need of inspection which basically suspends my warranty indefinitely til they and only they inspect it.

I felt like they were twisting my arm to pay for stuff, so I said stuff and stormed out. Only to be told that only they can inspect.

Did you send your emails to Luca Brasi for assistance?
In all seriousness doesn't the letter they signed off on hold any weight? Or is the problem Ferrari Italia doesn't want to acknowledge the letter at all?

Your joking about Luca Brasi, but I am actually fantasizing about revenge. They're shameless and it's really tough to deal with!

Italy does acknowledge everything. They simply insist I go back and have them look at it.

I told the manager to his face that he is shameless and a liar. That I would rather burn my money than pay him! Now I am told to go back. Hence the fantasizing.

Probably true anywhere. I just thought I can tell that particular fly to go to hell, then go pour honey at any number of other places!

In hindsight it was impulsive and not the best thing to do. I just hope I can go elsewhere, because I don't trust him to go back to.

maintenance plan should not be fair play either since it's part of the price you pay when you buy the car. No one really thinks the maintenance is free do they? It's just rolled into the car price.

So that dealer should not be able to block you from having access to the maintenance you pre paid when you bought the 812.
Id call your lawyer and have them send a letter to the dealer manager, the dealer owner, Ferrari Egypt (if there is such a thing) and Ferrari Spa.

    Well to be fair...

They haven't cancelled his maintenance plan.

If you read through all of those itty bitty words in the warranty they have the right to void if a 3rd party does an insufficient repair.

They are merely pausing his plan until they inspect it.

    So have them inspect it.

I'd they deny the coverage for the repair tell them you want it stated in writing and why.

My guess is they will approve it and be back on your way.

Getting into a pissing match with a dealer is not really a smart thing unless you have alternatives.

But for the record. What the dealer is doing is totally scummy if it really and truly was just minor scrapes on the bottom of the bumper.

They made a full inspection and had the car for more than 10 days. I also have a post inspection document with like a diagram of the car noting every tiny spec or scratch. Signed by their technician, and his hand writing stating that I am under factory warranty and that if I choose to do to work with them they will pay back the 500 usd I had paid for inspection.

So they already inspected and passed the car, but changed their mind later because they can. And because they are scum.

So setting that aside for a second... Your all set? Warranty and maintenance reinstated?

(Not trying to minimize the ****ty thing that happened to you just want to clarify)

Also was this in the US?

    This was in Lebanon.

    And no, nothing was reinstated.

Basically they inspected and signed off that car had only cosmetic issues that can be fixed anywhere. They gave me a quote. I left and had it done elsewhere. Went back for free maintenance, but was shocked to see they are holding a grudge and trying to sort of blackmail me of you can call it that. I told them hell no I don't need you and now looking for an alternative to losing face and being blackmailed.

    Ahhh got it.

    That's a tough one.

I hate to make you swallow your hat. But I can't imagine their are many other dealers in Lebanon. If you had a real failure they might be a real pain in the ass when you actually need real warranty.

    Something to think about.

I totally understand your outrage though and probably would not feel any different than you are feeling right now.

$400k+ for an 812 and this is how dealerships treat clients. Disgusting.

What dealership is it if you don’t mind saying?
