Hi all! I am anxiously looking forward to purchasing my first Ferrari and, as such, I am new to the forum. I have spent the past few hours glued to the threads and I will probably be up through the night continuing to do so.

I would appreciate it if I could get a recommendation on a dealer in the South Florida area. One of my partners speaks highly of Shelton Ferrari in Ft. Lauderdale and The Collection seems to be well known in the Miami area.

Given that this will be my first purchase, and I am looking to build a relationship with the dealership (I am on my third Porsche in as little as three years), recommendations on these two would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I tried doing a search, but I got too many threads thrown back to review.

Call Bud at Shelton, they do not come any better. If you need another reference, call Pat at Ferrari of Newport Beach, CA., not close, but is a great guy as well, but do not forget Stephen at Ferrari of Atlanta.

If you find one that you like and it's not at a dealership get Tim Stanford to do your PPI.

I can't find the place, so maybe they closed, but there was this exotic dealer in Ft. Lauderdale that sold Lotus and Ferrari. I believe they sold Lambo's too. Their showroom faced the street, and was located in an industrial area/ghetto type of place. It was a small showroom, packed full of cars parked less than an inch from each other. You had to enter through the side, through a gate into a small area in the back.

NEVER GO THERE. They are arrogant *********s.

    Depends on new or used...

If used, I'd find a great independent Ferrari mechanic and broaden your search. If new, buying locally wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks for the thoughts. In regards to my purchase, I would prefer new, but doubt that will be possible given backlog and "market". In terms of the type of car, that is tough call. I can really see myself in a 430, and preferably a spider. That being said, my family loves taking drives in our Porsche C4S cab that seats all four of us (two girls 8 and 9).

As I have been doing my research, with my family looking over my shoulder, they have decided that I should get a 612 so we can all enjoy it together. Not sure the 612 excites me as much as a 430.

I plan to keep the Porsche, so that gets back to looking at the 430.

I have an appointment at Shelton tommorrow AM to see both a 612 and a 430; I am sure that will make any decision that more difficult.

Or any one of 20 or so exotic shady dealerships along federal highway......... My preference is to always purchase from an authorized dealer. I might pay more, but at least I know what I am getting.

I bought a 348 from the new auto toy store last year. And while they didn't have the greatest rep I had 2 independent PPI's done and the car checked out perfect. So if you do find a car you really like and the dealer isnt the best make sure you get a PPI done.

I am not a customer of Shelton in Ft. Lauderdale, but have been very impressed by the staff and overall feel of the place. I have stopped by on several occaisions while travelling Florida to check it out as someday I may purchase property in the area. On the foirst visit we were greeted warmly and treated to a wodnerful tour of the place by Benn Correale, one of the fine salesmen. On subsequent visits we have been immediately recognized by Benn, and always greeted adn treated well. I have also heard from colleagues that Shelton's service manager, Joe Yuliano is a top notch guy wiht great experience and knowledge.

While you likely won't be able to order a new 430, you almost certainly can order and spec a 612...
