Hey Everyone, My brother and I are in the market for a 360 Modena and was wondering if anyone else on this board has one without a garage. We live in queens and both our houses don't have garages. Wondering if you guys just leave it out or garage it somewhere else. Any ideas would be appreciated. -John
Do not recommend it. I am in NYC and would not park it in an outdoor lot. Not because of the elements, but because of the attention it will get. Not a good idea IMO
i think for a car like that, you have to have a garage. i used to live in queens, i waited until buying a LI home with garage before i starting search for a Ferrari to buy.
also check with insurance co - or maybe not (beware what you tell them), that said better to find out now if they will still cover you with it parked outside than after it is stolen
I would not recommend it. It is not the best idea, especially in Queens. In my area a guy just purchased a brand new 04 Viper and also has a 01 Prowler. He has no garage and lets the cars sit outside. I must say that every time I drive by, it worries me. All you need is a kid that wants to do damage or even an adult that does not like you. I have another friend, Lupe, who has a 355 without a garage but the way his driveway is set up, he has LOTS of space from the road. The driveway is pretty long and at the end of it there is also a gate. I would think that it also helps since he is a cop hehe. Unless you have a good set up I would not recommend it. Put the car in a storage space if you want it that badly but that can be a PAIN in the rear. Lastly you have to factor in insurance since the car sits outside. Most insurance companies would think you are crazy. They will still insure you but they will wonder what you are thinking and your premium will definitely be higher.
ok guys get ready to freak. you all know me here, I do not put my car in the garage my house does not have one because we turned my garage into a large kitchen family room. we kept the garage doors for outer apearence for the town rules. Anyway I do own another house down the road from me and that has a garage but I dont use it. i love looking at it in the driveway. My sister owns the house accross the street from me and that has a garage as well but I do not use it. If I had a garage in my house then I would use it and in a few more years when we look for another house I will be sure that it has multiple garages. lucky for me I have not had a problem my advice get the car it would be nice to have another one in the area and get a real ****ty car cover and put it over the car when you have it in your driveway over night. here is a photo of my home looks like I got a garage but i dont. Interesting to hear. By the way Brad, do you happen to have a link for the footage we shot that day when we all went down to LI? I tried going to the Z06 Site but had no luck. Thanking you in advance
No guaranteed parking and constantly worrying whether it will be there in one piece when I return = RENT A GARAGE!
actually it is more of the area than garage. if the hood is quiet and nice, and not much through traffic, and ppl know u there, i guess it is ok. now for queens, i really don't think it is good idea. i have had fair shares of attemps on my cars over the yrs.
well were in queens because there are some nice parts thats for sure and are you tucked away or are you on a main rd?
lived in fresh meadows, which is considered good part in queens. tucked away, few blocks off utopia pkway. over 6 yrs, had 2 thief attemp on car, 2 attemp on wheels, 4 attemps on my M3 within a year. and that's even in our own parking lot, not just in the street, townhouse has it's own lot. but not gated.
yeah on my ///m roadster i used to have a cover since it is tag top. can't stop the fockers unless u sit next to it with a gun, so i learned to lived with it. lucky me altogether only suffered from 1 broken sunroof, 1 poped lock cyclinder, 1 damaged truck lock, a pair of ripped off sideview mirror over the yrs. glad i moved now.
Both our houses are in the Forest Hills Garden and I think it's a pretty nice area. We do have long driveways and can put it in the driveway. I didn't mean leave it in the street but just outside of your property. In the winter we plan on putting it into storage but just for weekends and nice day we like to keep it on hand. -John
in that case, if u put in driveway with a cover, then put ur other car behind it, i think it should be ok.
So we wouldn't be the only one leaving it outside then. Buttuz, for storage where would you put it? We wanted to find a nice place to put the car when we don't drive it. -John
Sounds like LOTS of nightmare stories. Wait until you get a garage man or work something out with someone. I would hate to see something happen to a 360. I do not want to read on the boards in the future, "360 Stolen" or "360 Window Broken", etc.
You gonna leave your car out in the snow during the winter too? Im sure that will eat away at the mechanics over time
John, Whats up man !!!? Good to see you on here. Thanks again for that opportunity man, tell your brother thanks too, again. I believe your brother's driveway is sufficent. It's so far away from the road, and the neighborhood is so quiet. Plus, the neighborhood is like a maze : ) You can't really see it parked, especially if the other driveway has a car or two in it. Good Luck!!! Let me know when you get it.
