    Aloha,
I posted a thread in the Business section of F chat requesting help in establishing a successful business relation ship with Mainland China. However after a little reflection I want to amend that request to include any and all Chinese business communities regardless of their continuity to the mainland. Please feel free to contact me if you are willing to assist me in doing business with any part of the “China” economy regardless of where it is located.
If anyone on this section of the board can assist me in this endeavor with any of my needs please contact me via F chat.
    Mahalo

    Jim,
If you are serious, you should make a trip to China to meet the right people. I believe the US Govt has some match making services that would be able to help you out.If not, you can hire some companies that would be the introducers for you. Its easier to work that way, instead of getting a US born Chinese to help you out, as most would look to benefit with monetary gains.
China and India are interesting markets, and I wish you all the best.

I read almost daily that China has a huge stake in US debit and an equally huge trade imbalance and therefore a lot of US currency sitting somewhere. If I’m right about that then it seems to me that there should be some Chinese business man who would see investing in US properties to be a logical step in hedging their USD position. As the dollar goes down the price of Hawaiian Real estate goes with it for the moment. However Hawaiian real estate has a history of strong recoveries and I believe that will happen again. If you swap Yuan for HI, land that goes up in value either because the dollar goes up or because outside buyers (Canada, Australia and others) push up prices, a savvy buyer stands to make money. While Hawaii price are by no means at historic lows they are greatly discounted form their prices at the high point in the market. Maui in particular has been voted by Conde Nast as the “best Island “for the 14th or 15th year in a row. Hawaii as a whole and Maui in particular is a market unto it’s self. It is much like the Ferrari market. Only the fortunate few can afford to indulge and while prices go up and down, in the long run the price to participate continues to go up.
I’m sure I have a lot to learn about how this would work and what is and is not possible as well as the social skills and social networking necessary to accomplish my goal. That’s fine with me as I’m a willing student.

You are on the money, just too late.
Chinese hot money has been buying up pieces of USA for a while already, thanks to the economic downturn and weak USD, they were buying properties in Manhattan not in units not in buildings but in BLOCKS.
I am sure they have been in Hawaii if they liked the game down there.

Right now, Chinese $ are buying up hi end apartments/houses in HK. They like to deal in a country where the we share the same language. Hi end apt. are going for close to US$ 10k per sq. ft.
As to properties such as block of condos, shopping malls, they usually go through international brokers or banks with strong China connections. Just advertising or word of mouth do not land you the mega deals. U ended up spinning wheels.
