If you were going to send a letter to President Obama, what would you write?

    Here's mine:

    Dear Mr. President,

I listened to your speech after the tragic events in Egypt and Libya, and noted that although you said all the right words, there was something very critical missing.

    Anger.

As the leader of our country, you shouldn't want 'justice.' You, on behalf of the American People, should want retribution, revenge, and to send a clear message that those who harm American interests, or American citizens, will face a swift and sure response that will return to them a hundred fold on their efforts.

When you were elected president, partisanship should have gone out the window. You were elected to protect and defend OUR constitution, and attendant to that duty, the protection of Americans, and their interests at home and abroad.

In that respect, Mr. President you have failed, and I'm certain the family of Ambassador Chris Stevens would agree.

As the leader of our country, you should be willing to carpet bomb Mecca if that's what it takes to stop these attacks. I know your response would be "But, what about all the innocent civilians? They didn't do anything!" And that is my point exactly.

If the countries, and the people of those countries, that harbor and foster Islamic extremists are not actively seeking out those extremists and those who support them, then they are far from innocent. And they should suffer as much from their inaction as we have suffered from those actions that occurred because of their complacency.

You should take this opportunity to tell the leaders of Libya and Egypt that we, the American people, and you, as our leader, will accept nothing less than the public execution of all those involved. And if they can't make that happen, then we will.

If that means bombing whole neighborhoods to kill suspected terrorists, then those 'innocents' killed as collateral damage will only serve to bring home the message to terrorists everywhere that, by taking an active stance against the United States of America, they are putting not only themselves, but their family and neighbors, their entire country, at risk.

As a US citizen, I don't want to see a "measured response." I want to see you let slip the dogs of war; put absolute terror in the hearts and minds of those who stand against us. The fact is, they consider us to be terrorists anyway. We might as well give them a reason. I'm ok with that, and I'm sure most Americans are.

I understand that you can't blame Islam, as a religion, for these attacks. But you, Mr. President, need to make it clear that if Islamic terrorists continue to attack our missions, and kill our ambassadors, that we will have no choice but to do everything and anything we can to stop them. And, that might mean exercising the nuclear option, and making Mecca uninhabitable for 20,000 years.

I suspect that if you immediately put a fifty-cent tax on gasoline, and that money went directly to the Pentagon, the CIA, and the FBI for a REAL war on terror, that you would have overwhelming support throughout the country.

Mr. President, forget "Justice." We are at war, Mr. President. Act like it.

I've gotten more than a few PMs, all basically asking "Are you ok?" or "Is everything alright?"

Yes. I am. And, Yes, I wouldn't hesitate to send my letter to the president.

Actually, I thought he was lacking a sense of caring. Obama never seems directly connected to any events emotionally.

I don't think he's an uncaring person. But, he's no Bill Clinton who seemed like a real person rather than an autopen.

I've always felt he never really liked the job. He was pushed into it by Harry Reid and Oprah and I really don't think he expected to beat Hillary but was advancing his place in the party.

Man, it is nice to know I am not the only one. Cheers, buddy.

(My wife and I were talking about it last night and she said "we should have just nuked 'em all back on 2001. I feel bad for all the innocents that die, but it's us or them." Sorta shocked me... I was leaning towards a ground assault but she felt it wasn't worth the American casualties)

Now you had to know that this was going get some attention ... ;)

I feel your frustration but I don't think we're anywhere close to having to do something as horrific as that. I'm not sure that scenario even works too well really. We didn't wipe Japan clean with nukes. I don't think anyone really knows ALL the consequences of trying to erase a region. besides there are people from there all over the world. What do think they're going to do?

This is what I meant in the other thread I started about "something is different" this time.
People seem to have reached a new threshold of anger.

I think we could have hit a lot of these places since 2001 and earlier a lot harder than we did without resorting to nuclear weapons.

Remember all the precautions we took to avoid civilian casualties.

I'll let the military guys bemoan the specifics of the restrictive "rules of engagement".

It all meant that we put our troops in extra danger.
