It all comes down to the condition of the leather seats, cushion, stitching, and overall structure. I have heard some Ferrari owners say that they prefer to leave the leather the way it is even if it's cracked, dry, detached piping, springs breaking through and various other conditions. Some will say “It’s original”. I must agree to a certain extent of keeping it original, I agree that if you are restoring the car why not replace the leather as well? Some Ferraris have been repainted several times in their lives and there interiors are falling apart. Neglecting the leather will lead to replacement. Not all leather interiors are candidates for leather re-dye. But the ones that are, a quality job makes a world of a difference. Like everything else related to restoration, the preparation is the key. These are a few pictures of Ferrari leather seats and interior parts I re-dyed. Thanks to Sindo for allowing me to feature his beautiful 308 Leather interior during the restoration. Also shown are 328 leather seats.
