I'm debating on going to grad school and getting my master's in aviation administration. Anyone have any opinons (either good or bad) on this idea?

Who knows if I go into grad school I might be able to learn how to spell too :D.

All things being equal, more education cannot be a disadvantage!

PM me if you want to talk specifics

My question to you would be whether the jobs you're looking at / want to be in require the masters or seem to be asking for it.

If the ones you're looking at right now do (or would like the degree), then the MA would be a great asset. If not, you might consider holding off on the schooling. Not because the MA would hurt you - it won't - but because you might be able to fit it into your career path and potentially have your employer contribute to the cost. (But that, of course, assumes you either have or will find a job that a) you want to stay with and b) offers the prospect of advancement.)

For example, there is a popular wisdom that unless you can get into one of the top 20 MBA programs in the country, then its not worth it economically -i.e. - you will never make up the cost and lost income you experience by taking off work to go to school. On the other hand, if you need more education in order to gain skills for a specific job that you want, then that will never be a bad move.

Just to break the monotony of work, or to postpone bearing down to a real job - don't waste your time.

Well I guess I'm looking at options right now. I know that if I lose my medical I'll be out and will need to go to my plan B. On the other hand I really need to wrap up my commercial licnese but, there have been a few things that have gotten in the way of that (money, and a job that does not pay the money needed).

Aside from grad school, I know that I could get a loan but, my problem with that is I really don't like the idea of being in debt (either with a loaning money for or grad school or flight school).

At age 26, unless you have some chronic or congenital health problem, the odds are against that being a problem for the forseeable future. Just be smart about over borrowing and be realistic about what kind of flying jobs you start out with. You can have a lot of fun, make some money, and build some time if you plan it. Just stay focused.

I will admit I'm losing a bit of my focus. I still know exactly where I want to be in 10-13 years. But, in all fairness I don't think I'm pushing myself as hard as I was about 3 years ago.

What I think I will do for now is get a better job that pays well, live below my means (something F-chat really trys to teach) and just go all out on my flying during my time off.
