Hi My friend has a 348 Challenge car that he would like to restore to it's racing look in 94/95. So can anyone help me find the ; i) decals or ii) high res scans of the decals - to use to make copies. Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great car, where did you find it, what racing history? Join us here: https://www.facebook.com/FerrariChallengeHistoric I posted your car, Looks great.
Hi It was for a long time owned by DM18. He needed to make space for newer toys, so my friend has taken up the task to look after it. It was the series winning car, driven by Simon Toyne. 1. I am trying to build a history file, so if you have any info/pics then please send. 2. Would love to race/hill climb it in Europe - but do not know what race-series are available. but certainly looking at the Spa for June2nd/3rd.
What a great car, congrets Post this here in the Challenge section, more interest, I am sure: Challenge Cars - FerrariChat.com You know this also? https://www.facebook.com/FerrariChallengeHistoric History is important to These cars, great, bring it back. You live in Europe? Are you coming to SPA 2.-3. Jun.? At the Moment there are no series in Europe for the 348, 355...
I work in HK but also visit the UK. So I am going to service the car here myself, and then ship back to UK. Hope to get it road registered in the UK - they are more "tolerant" of people putting race cars back on the road. And I think yes we will attend SPA 2-3 Jun.
Hi Angus By pure chance I came across this chat and I am Simon Toyne the original owner & driver of this 348 Challenge car. Hopefully you will see this response as I had to register to communicate! Love the photos. The car looks brilliant today, the original photo was in the Spa garages fyg. I'm sure I can give you history. My email in [email protected] Best Simon.
Angus..This car was also the actual 348TB London Motor Show car at Earls Court in 1993 that I purchased 'off stand' for the factory to convert to Challenge Spec. Also, the first and last UK RHD car (& UK driver!) to compete in the 1994 European 348 Challenge (after which the 355 was introduced). As such, the paint job was undertaken by Maranello Concessionaires being the UK main dealers who ran the car and 'allowed' the use of their colours previously campaigned race cars of Col.Ronnie Hoare during 1958-68. This car was the only car in such colours until the 're-birth' of the Maranello team in 2003 fyg.
This car even got it's own poster. I was able to get one from Tony W. at FoC-UK. So it just gets better and better. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Angus : email received and of course I will respond soon to help you build the car's history. Ha! Believe it or not Maranello never asked my permission to use the car in this poster (celebrating 50 years) and as at the time I was living in NYC I didn't even know it had been produced. Since my return I looked for one with no success. This is the first time I have EVER sighted it! Wow... even shows the number plate SYT 12 which I later transferred onto a 512TR (that I also raced.. at Thruxton) and prior to moving over to the USA sold the number to Frank Sytner of UK racing & car dealership fame. Regret selling it now hence these I now own on a couple of my 'toys'.... still very much a petrolhead, but regret no prancing horses now though! Beautiful Astons, Simon. I hope you'll share stories of your F-car racing here. I suspect many will appreciate them. I know I will.
Hi Simon, I'm going to get the poster high-res scanned and printed so i can hang one on the wall in the man-cave. I'll make 2 and send you one.
