Does anyone driving a 348 run with the cat. converter temp. ECU's disabled. I was told I can run without the ECU's but I can also burn up the engine. Am I looking for trouble or what????

I run without the useless ECUs that are mainly a source of trouble because if they crack or if there is too much humidity etc they generate wrong messages and for instance, it happened to me, I was overtaking a car when half the cars engine shut down due to ECUs. After this my mechanic said he does this to all 348s and recommends ECUs removal. I heard you cannot do this to the 355 though. The risk is virtually non existing, compared to the problems created by faulty ECUs, have you ever heard of ferrari engines burning from normal street use?

aftermarket cats and my defective ECU's are not plugged in. What's wierd is that I get no Slow Down lights. Now if I plug them in on the other hand, the lights come on at random times and the respective bank cuts out. weird, but works for me. I think it's more of a "what are you willing to accept" thing. I've never had a cat problem on any vehicle I've ever owned so don't expect to now, especially with higher than stock flowing cats.

I've been running with mine unplugged since last spring with no ill effects. Sure, there's the chance of a cat overheating and fire, but what are the odds really? Just because it's happened once or twice doesn't mean that it's inevitable for everybody.

My question is why are they even there? I've never heard of them on any other make of cars. What was Ferrari worried about? Do they know of some inherent weakness?
